Is it just me or was "The Who" halftime show a stink bomb? The lights and illuminations were well done but I thought the voices were dramatically bad. I suppose it's from 40 years of singing and, ah, "other" abuses:   Maybe it's just we "old-timers" who can remember the good ole days. Turn up the volume on this one and remember the 70's:

their voices during the first song were poor, after that I thought

they were fine...(hey they are 65 & 66 ) ...just think what you'd be saying

if it had been Dylan !??

Pete Townsend can still play

-- true though, not up to Springsteen, Prince or McCartney in past years

---> DANNO: Right on... I guess they needed to warm up. After 40 years I still pump up the volume when [the original] "Won't Get Fooled Again" comes on.

You mention McCartney and amazingly I think his voice is still getting better. It's obviously a far cry from the little boy voice in 1959, much lower now, but he's still unique and can go through many pitch levels. He has probably taken care of his voice and himself much better than most superstars.

A perfect example is "Ever Present Past." It's a classic McCartney tune, a well done video, and a classic McCartney story with divergent feelings: A touch of sadness at the approach of the end of a life but a tone that still leaves the listener in an upbeat mood.

The second video is not live, so cant compare.

Also, half the original Who aren't playing in first video. Keith Moon died (is that his son playing drums?), John Entwhistle isn't playing bass (he was brilliant) and Roger Daltry was always a complete tosser and could never sing anyway. The only guy with real talent in this live clip is Pete Townsend.... who is STILL and legend and can STILL play like a demon.
