Will you be buying an iPad?

The Apple iPad will be available in the US on April 3, but we're going to have to wait a bit longer I'm afraid, you won't be able to buy an iPad in Australia until late April.
Pricing for Australia has not been confirmed yet -- the iPad is priced from $499 in the US, so I think we'll see prices staring at around $599 in Australia.
I have a desktop and I have an iphone, but I do like the idea of having a in-between device to use around the house and we have the chance to go for either the wi-fi or 3GS version, will you be getting one?

I said in a previos forum that I will be be getting one. But I wont part with any money until I see a live demo. Also it depends on the price in the UK, if they say "ok its starting at $499 but you cant have it for £599 starting" Then Ill tell them to ffffforget it.

My Dads thinking of getting once, so I'll wait for that.lol

Take a look and see which device you would prefer. The Sony is cheaper by $50, but no internet, email, office, games, movies, 120,000 apps and no colour .. basically just a reader with badly implemented touch. I suggest watching these 2 videos to show the difference in innovation between the two computer giants.

This is Sony's new offering... $400

What an extra 50 bucks will buy you... $450

I may get one after they have been tried and tested and definitely if someone writes a good app for to use the touch functionality to control the parameters in Logic on my g5.

I thought about buying one until they released the actual specs. It was a little disappointing after all the hype.

BTW, we should be getting them in Thailand by early 2022. I'm still waiting for any of the iStudio stores to get the new Apple mouse which I believe was released in 2009. Every time I go they tell me next week. I've heard that every week since the beginning of Jan.

Of course, they have the new mouse on all of their display computers so you can get all excited about it but when then when you ask if they have any in stock they just laugh because they get asked that about 100 times a day.

I have Apple products but they really are the unacceptable face of capitalism

Supposedly Steve Jobs has just announced that you cant tether the wifi model of the Ipad (although you probably can with MyWi). A jailbroken application.

I find that inherently dishonest although I do have incredibly high moral standards. What is the point of having two 3G chips when you only need one. What is the point of building integrated products that cant be integrated properly. I do realize that 3G chip costs about US$8 and they are charging US$120 for it. But I get us Iphone users have already paid that remarkable mark up on the phone itself.

Then there is the unlocked Ipad 3G with a minisim which guarantees that you cannot use your iphone Sim. To me it is inherently bad faith to work against the interest of your clients (I also think not buying a round of drinks is inherently bad faith so the bar is virtually underground). I dont really see how it is in their long term best interests. What they are doing is selling sim cards that are incompatible to maximise phone contracts for telephone companies. They reducing their credibility and sales for the benefit of other companies,

@shortyg: That's what I'm thinking too, hopefully somebody will write a Lemur like multitouch application for it to control Logic or Ableton. I wonder if the JazzMutant people are seeing their demise or if they're going to try to port the Lemur OS over to the iPad?
