Other than sleaze for all the looser sex tourists, I just cant get why so many people travel all the way to Thailand and go straight to the worst, shittiest, filthiest beach area in all of Thailand. And then go home thinking they've experienced the 'real' Thai 'culcha'.

For REAL Thailand (including great fishing spots) there are SO many places to go here. Do yourself a favour and give Pattaya a big miss, unless sleaze is your game.

Of course it's ALL filth, sleaze, hookers, sex tourists blah blah blah......1000's of families holiday in Pattaya year after year, so there must be more to it other than what the know it all's on here would have you believe! It's kinda like saying Nana Plaza soi 4 is on Sukhumvit Road, so who the **** would want to live Sukhumvit???

Again <shock horror> there are many fishing/diving companies who organize trips inside and outside Pattaya. Just spend a little time on Google or search some of the Pattaya forums and you will find what you are after.
