Stopping Smoking

Here we go, today I will smoke my last cigarette. I am fed up of the smell, taste, cost and my f**king addiction to these stupid sticks. I am looking at the last one sitting in the pack, it is mocking me, you'll never do it I hear it say, you've loved me for 25 years, you can't leave me now. Well sod you Mr Benson & Hedges.

I think seeing out the rest of tonight will be pretty easy, tomorrow will be the big challenge. I just hope I don't become one of those self righteous gits who look down their nose at smokers.

I have written this journal entry to make the fact real to myself, I DON'T SMOKE.

whew 25 years huh... that's going to be hard to shake off. Good luck with it. For me I was only ever a social smoker. But since the ban, I couldn't be arsed to go outside anymore.lol

How are you planning to go about it? Straight cold turkey or are you gonna take tablets and/or patches?

also a heavy smoker for 25 years. going on 2 years off now. to be honest, it seemed too easy. still kinda waiting for it to be difficult.. i think the trick was i never really told myself i'd actually quit. i just happened to be away from a shop for 2 days ..so i endured that, and then from there pushed one week into two weeks into a month into 2 months. before i knew it it was a year and more. anyways good luck.

best of luck. 30 years now without smoking. the first month is the hardest. i got addicted to chewing gum. used it as a replacement for cigarettes. had to give up chewing gum.

Hey Guys and Gals

Thanks for all your support, its been 24 hours now and so far so good. I'm not going to go down the gum or patches route, straight cold turkey, BRING IT ON.

This morning was easy, still had a bit of a buzz from telling myself I had quit. Starting to feel a bit twitchy now though. The big challenge is gonna be when I'm with my mates as every one of them puffs something. Gotta keep busy, try and keep my mind occupied.

Well 3 days in and really starting to feel the itch now, seeing cigarettes in my sleep. Stay strong won't be long till the nicotine addiction has gone then its just the mental addiction.
