Bitch on the Bus

It was a Friday morning that everyone was rushing to work. The bus I normally take is probably the most crowded bus in BKK during rush hours both a.m. and p.m. It was crowded but everyone was trying to keep to their space and not being a burden to the person next to them, breathing into one another's neck.

After the bus came to the first stop after the express way ride, the tuna-can-crowded bus halted for at least one third of the passengers to get off. That was when the ***** emerged. Those who wanted to get off, waited their turn, because most of standing passengers were getting off anyway, and it was way crowded that it would make it worse to get off.

The ***** was pushing her way through, but no one in front of me could move, neither did I. But she was pushing and trying to squeeze through. She was trying to squeeze through me, but there was no space, neither on the side, nor the front. So I turned and told her "Can you just not rush? Everyone wants to get off, too." in a normal voice, not aggressive, not humble, just normal voice.

So she paused and waited her turn, I followed everyone down the steps and was at road level. The ***** emerged again, and I could feel that she deliberately bumped into me and just ran off. I felt irritated but not upset. If she had to be at a specific place at a specific time, yet didn't know how to prepare herself and leave sometimes to get there in time, she is not the kind of person I should bother being upset with.

I am in a surprisingly good mood today. Maybe it is Friday, and I am just lovin' it!

The whole idea of waiting in line is completely lost by some Thais. Even after 6 years here, it still gets my blood boiling when people cut the line. Setting an example for others doesn't work because you just lose your spot. Getting angry doesn't work either, so I think you handled it well.

Nice one.

I get angry in traffic when I'm lined up in a mile long cue of cars to get off the expressway for example, and then some cars just overtake the whole line and squeeze in in front of everybody. Hate it...

Love this line "the tuna-can-crowded bus halted"... nice work.

It's nice to be quite a big man in these situations... I can stand strong and let her really struggle to get past me. Or I can turn and look at her until she understands.

And when it's guys who push in at 7-11, I feel confident enough to say something (polite), such as, "Hi excuse me... There's a queue here."

The English are famous for queuing - someone once said "A lone Englishman stands in a queue of one." We love it... we can talk about the weather and complain about immigrants ruining this country.

I can understand Rob here.

I have been in Singapore with girl friends years ago, she said many times upseted that she cant live in this country there have to queue everywhere.

It's one of those small things that annoy me too. I don't let it get to me too much but sometimes it does get your blood boiling if it happens on the wrong day at the wrong time.

What gets me even more than the non-queing though are the people on the streets and BTS who bump into you and don't even acknowledge it. Like the idiots who get on the BTS and start texting. They have both hands occupied and none holding on to anything. As soon as the train surges or slows for a turn their 40kg bodies are thrown until they come into contact with a stationary object . . . you know, like a somewhat heavier than 40kg farang like me. But then they don't even look up. I don't even care if they say anything. Just look at me and acknowledge that you just rammed into me. A polite smile is good enough.

it used to bother me, but now I just do it too. being 189 cm makes it a bit easier to push pregnant ladies aside and kids are a piece of cake. mentally I just made the trade off that if it is going to be this way then i am gonna do it too. so i jump the queue if i feel like it.

the ***** on the bus was itchin for a fight. if she bumped you on the pavement outside, why did you not whip off a shoe and throw it at her? she was askin for it!

I met a lady sitting on her stuff that can fit for 5 people to standing while everyone have no place to stand and it's not a bus, a train but sky train...and rush hours...

They actually have a word for middle-aged women in Japan who do that..."Obartarion." Totally annoying. But you were still in a good mood even after a crowded hot bus ride with a rushing ***** on board...so you win!! :)

The tube in London on rush hour is full of people like that, people seem to stop being human just to get somewhere 20 seconds faster.
