Dating rules?

It's Sunday again...

I like reading things on the internet and this time I come across with yahoo's article. It's about dating rules you can forgo. For me any rules wouldn't do much to me cos Im a rule breaker (in a good way he he he). Since Thailandfriends is a kind of community and dating site (I understand so) I'd like to share this article to you all it's the dating rules to ditch they said

---------------------

Rule #4: Only date one person at a time

Every so often, the stars align and several new prospects come along at the same time. But contrary to popular wisdom, you don’t have to settle for just one person. Hughes notes that playing the field is the smartest way to find what you’re really looking for. “All single people should dare to have spares,” she explains. “Most people choose one person, commit to that person, and then a few months later realize the relationship isn’t working out so he or she starts all over again. Save yourself the time by simply dating more people and staying in the game longer.” Just be sure to be honest with everyone you’re seeing, letting each one know that you’re in “dating mode” and not interested in getting exclusive yet, as Sean Divine, 25, from San Francisco did with good results. “Ever since I started dating, I’ve been a serial monogamist,” he says. “I always thought I was dating, but really I was just jumping from one long-term relationship to another. After my last breakup, I realized that if I’m going to find the right person I have to really see what my options are. So I started dating a number of people and found that it keeps things light and fun instead of getting too serious, too fast. And it also gives me a chance to really figure out what I want in a mate. By not putting all of my eggs in one basket, I find that I’m able to judge people’s character better and see what my type truly is.”

-------------------------

I quite don't get the message, it's mean people can do multiple dates? And to be sure I had talk with one of my friend a respectable gentleman, discuss about male and female, dating then I asked why men so complicated he replied,

''not so complicated.. we take forgranted what we have and then look for something better .. always happy if what we left behind waits for us but not sweating it if we need to move on.. we are not complicated''

Ohh..I just made it the same story :P

Now ...what do you think?

I agree with the article. I think far too many people are in relationships because they failed to explore other options. I think people make better choices when they have options.

The best example that comes to mind is from several years ago when a friend of mine started going out with this girl who he had been lusting after for a long time and finally got up the courage to ask out. She wasn't evil or anything but she really wasn't a good match for him. But he couldn't see that because he had all of his emotional energy wrapped up into this girl.

But then out of nowhere he met another girl and she called him a few times and wanted to go out. His eyes were suddenly opened to all the negatives of the first girl his friends had been trying to show him. Now that he wasn't pinning all his hopes and dreams on one girl he could see clearly and make a better decision about what he wanted out of a relationship.

When it gets serious and both people make a decision not to date other people (i.e. boyfriend/girlfriend) it's different because you're sort of saying you've made a choice. But while you're still dating you should want to have as many options as you can.

You can always find something better if you keep looking, but to make a commitment, take responsibility, and get comfortable with the same person takes work, and there are so many people that don't want to put in the work it takes to make a relationship work. That article is for those that are lazy, and can't see what they actually have....lol.

Being honest with relationship is important. Taking the time to choose also, but we must respect the other(s) one(s). So, clear dialog to fix a common "borderline" between "free to fly" and engagement is needed.

And it is not easy because same words seems to have different meanings sometimes...

So each has also to take care the understanding is the same: the purpose is simple: not to hurt.

Of course, if one fall in love and the other one do not, there will be some pain...

@KB: Two dates sounds rather arbitrary. I think if some girl told me she quit dating other guys because I took her out to coffee one afternoon and we had dinner once I would be a little freaked out.

I don't like the multiple dating idea...since I don't want to be a choice of a guy ...so i don't do this to guy who i dates with.. respect myself respect one who I date...

How do you feel if you are just one candidate of his100?

you are just a choice of him... no one would want to be just a choice. People who keep doing this are those who think they are on the top ,they love judging people without looking and themselve.. well These people are just a human. They will be so old and ugly and will die someday.

If dating going no where, multiple date might be a consider. I think if your date not interested in dating exclusively then better move on don't waste time. But multiple dating it's really NOT nice, no one wanna be treated as a secound, third, forth 5,6,7.

I like the first comment from the top is very interesting idea about men and now you should know what men think is similar to women, which I think most guy in general would do..we are human, arn't we? :)

I have talked to my friend's bf here in New York. People here take dating seriously. He is a local American in his late 20's. He said if he calls a girl out for dating for 3 times it means it is getting serious. He has to pay at least USD100 to cover 3 date dinners so it must mean something.

It is good idea to explore more option before having commitment. BUT you wouldn't want to see many girls at same time for too long as it is tiring and really headache. Well unless you really like to play around. I am not a guy by the way. :-)
