I got call from a colleague IT section informed me that, my big monitor screen computer desktop's time is coming to an end. It will be replaced by new up-to-date computer which I have to choose between 'laptop' and 'desktop' :( . Then, I asked for her suggestion, she said, well computer laptop would be more convinience, its portable you can work from everywhere (work everywhere !!) you can carry it back home with you everyday (what!!). For desktop, monitor and keyboard are just bigger. I told her I like to type on BIGGER keyboard.

Anyway, I have not asked comment from my boss yet, as I know the answer will be more likely laptop as I just got his SMS yesterday (he is now on business trip in Germany) that "say good-bye to SMS and go get WhatsApp Messenger on your iPhone (with link attached)" *sigh* (he didnt know that i just removed it from my phone.

Sooner or Later, I will have no more my privacy life...

I want early retired.

Well I think I understand what you think haha. I'm working in IT & SAP Department and my coworkers such as programmer, IT network admins staff have laptop and can access to company network from home. It sounds excellent but later my coworkers found out that they lost their privacy as our boss always contact them anywhere and anytime. Good luck for me as I've not to use laptop but desktop ^^. I can't help you but I understand you.

well, I think the one you really need to avoid is the blackberry. I have seen these things change (ruin) ppls lives. With one of these you really NEVER stop working. Been out in Singapore with friends from work (they work in Singapore, I dont) and see them all reaching into their pockets at the same time to read the same email just arrived, at midnight on a Saturday. And then they strt talking about the content ..... I remember reading an article which quantified the extra work BB carriers do. Apparently a lot of guys are reading emails on BB while pissing in the morning!! Traditionally the first act of the day has been replaced with a BB. I wont have one, ever.

@ Sasie... thanks for understanding, unlike my boss.

@ Seafra... one in many first thing that my boss did when he came replace the position of my previous boss was CHANGE... by changed everyone (in section manager level)'s mobile to blackberry bold !!! poor them lol !!

To be able to work from home really has its advantages, as long as you don't have to turn on the webcam when talking with your bosses. Think about it. It's not giving up your privacy. It's just the opposite.

@Seafra: Do you own an iPhone? The fact you spent so many words not realizing that the iPhone can me and is probably more intrusive than a BB leads me to assume the answer is, "No"

I work online. I only charge $4.99 a minute to speak to me and I will do whatever you want[/b'].

Be careful what you are offering! I know of things that are worth far more than $9,98 (especially when filmed) and that I could tell you in less than two minutes!
