Probably this is a very silly thing to post here, but I just can't resist sharing my excitement about a mobile prepaid SIM card I just got which allows me to call back home to my home country during the offpeak hours of 11pm to 11am at a flat one-time rate of 15cents for as long as I want, yipee! :) And also to Thailand, which is pretty exciting too since I still can't get over my love of Siam, *sigh*. Previously, some online friends on another Thai social networking webbie had given me their contact numbers to call (which I never did) so maybe this will be a good chance to try calling them for once haha! =) Although for sure, I don't know them well (or even anything else beyond their profile, which is much less than what I know of even the forumers here in this TF!) and I don't really like calling strangers with unknown intentions. Hmmm...

Told you this is a silly post, yet you got this far reading it *wink* :):D

You can buy that in the US or . . . what's the procedure? A lot of people travel back and forth between US/Europe/Australia and Thailand and would love to have a cheap calling plan.

I don't know the rate of the GoTalk in other places except that in where I am (Australia) as I heard it costs differently elsewhere sometimes. I bought it for AUD$9.95 and it has a credit of AUD$10. Everywhere during the offpeak hours of 11pm to 11am local time, you can call from a list of 67 countries (Thailand included) whereby you are only charged a AUD15cents flagfall per call (both land and mobile lines) during this 12hours. So you can talk for 12hours without putting down the phone and it will cost AUD15cents in total for the entire duration. Even during peak hours, it is still relatively cheap, cos for me e.g. to call to Thailand, I only have to pay AUD2cents/min plus a one-time per call flagfall of AUD15cents during the peak timing of 11.01am to 10.59pm local time.

It is a SIM card like the normal postpaid ones which you insert into the phone, but after which you have to call a toll-free number to activate it. I have been to the website and it seems it can be purchased online. Otherwise, you will see their staff (usually foreign student part-time workers) selling it at busy shopping areas. I bought it from a friend selling it and lots of foreigners bought it too.

Hope that helps ^^

Another thing about this card is that unless the value is used up before 3months after activation, the card will expire but if you recharge it after it expires, you will be able to retain its original unused value on top of the new topped-up value so it's very worthwhile.
