My strange neighbour part III – not much of the neighbour

Yesterday was a tough day for me. While some people enjoying good weather, I was driving, & walking around between buildings under 20+ something degrees in order to get the fence issue settled. Funny how some people in the local government know so little about what they are doing. I went to the reception (and he’s a policeman, surprise surprise!!!!) at the local government building and asked for an address to “fence inspectorâ€. He can’t help me. (why would they put someone-know-nothing at a reception counter!!!?) I had to walk up to a governor’s secretary office for it.

I got the address to the fence inspector. The secretary was kind enough to call someone at the fence-inspector office and I get an appointment for that. The inspector office is at the other side of the town and it took me for awhile to find the way. The inspector office is in the same building as “borgerservice†(residents service). If I only knew this before, that could have safe me some time.

At the fence-inspector office, I told a fence-inspector about the problem with the fence and he gave me 20 pages of the law about fence in DK. Good lord, must I read all that???.. I guessed he could see my not-so-happy-about-it body language, then he took time talking with me. To sum it up… he told me that I should talk to “land inspector†but he was kind enough to give me an “intranet webmap†with a stamp of the local government. Then he handed me another copy of that 20 pages fence law,…â€you can give this one to your neighbour also!†.. oh well!!! Thank you so very much.

I decided that I will not drive to “land inspectorâ€. I’m getting smarter. So I called them this morning. It’s easier this time. The land inspector officers know what they are doing. Within less than 15 minutes I got an email, explaining what they will do to get our land measured and he didn’t forget to send me an estimate fee for it. They will come and measuring + marking the borderline to between our land and the neighbour’s.

nb4.jpg

What more, oh yes. My husband and I order the new fence + some people to come and set the new fence up and that will be after the land inspector has finished his job.

Summery : Did I say that I have to pay for “fence inspector†to come and check after the fence is done?

Let me do a little mathematic here 1500 for the fence inspector + 12000 for the land inspector + 20000 for the fence (and that’s only for the fence from the garage to the road approx 15 meters)

Total : DKK 33500 (x 5.6 if you want to know how many it is in THB)

The moral of the story : Now, who can lend me DKK 33000?

um.. it seems annoying you. Is it possible for you to build wall instead of fence? Just only the side close to his house.

Do you mean a concert fence? Yes, I could but that will be like I'm robbing my own bank account. ;) It's way too expensive ja.

VAT here is 25%, therefore everything was expensive. They are not as slow as in TH because of the Dane population is only 5million. If the Danish government has to work for Thai people that might be like a night mare for them.

Geeez, DK seems to be even more bureaucratic than Austria (which for sure IS an art!). We don't have fence inspectors, at least.

and you should see how the fence inspectors work. There will be three of them for one case. That is sooo bureaucratic. LOL

I also think a brick wall or concrete steel wall would be better here.

I though so, but the fence is just on one of the drive way side and we are getting a lawyer for this.. to be continue in part 4. Please stay tuned.

Oh very expensive na ka P'Nicky. I went to Denmark many times for training at ECCO Denmark and I realized that these costs are very expensive even in Krone. Can't you get the money from your mad neighbour?

Yes, cost of living is very high here but most people also earn good money. Anyway, I have no interest to get money out of the guy. That wasn't the point. The case is in the police hands, and my husband and I let our lawyer taking care of it.

Next time you come to DK, let me know. ;D

True that so the it's balance well to get high salary while the cost of living is so high. Your mad neighbour destroyed the fencse so he must pay you.

Well ECCO is saving cost so it's not easy to go there now ka hehe and the new policy is using video conference instead. Moreover, the Headquarter is located at Bredebro, Billund and it's so far from Copenhagen na ka ^^.

Billund is in South-Justland. If you have been to Billund you can't miss Legoland. ;D Yes, Billund is far away from where I live. But we could meet somewhere in between for exp in Fyn.

Yes, most companies saving money and they have been doing this for almost 4 years now. World-economy crisis, they said. Danish people are very good with saving money, I must say. Take my husband for exp. up til now he never bought any cell-phone (he uses company's cellphone and it's very old model but he doesn't care). WHen I bought a new cellphone he was complaining ALOT!! lol..

Hahaha I agree with you of how good of Denish for saving money. When I went to ECCO company there, I rarely found my coworker used luxury cellphone while they got a very high salary. They don't care for the hi-end stuffs but the basic needs and that's different from Thai a lot. Here many people buy smartphone but only to show off and all they can use is call out hahaha.

Ok I wish you'll get all good luck from now on na ka. Noboday can't get bad luck all the time and I'm sure your luck will be with you soon ^^. Cheers ka P'Nicky.

You work for ECCO you know how their designs are like. Most of ECCO shoes are minimalism. The Danes love simple, timeless design but with good quality. I think that says alot about how the Dane are. They don't like those small decorative stuffs like Thai. Yes they do have some decorative stuffs but for special season and eventho' they will buy only few pieces. for exp those Christmas ornament thingies, most of the Dane will go for Royal Copenhagen design.. http://www.royalcopenhagen.com/about-us/detailpress/3/171/3 A Royal Copenhagen dinner plate costs like EUR40.- .

Most of them know how to spend money, I think. Therefore, those companies selling cellphone have to promote their products heavily. THey almost bag people to buy when iPhone4 hit the market.

My luck has never been bad ;D.. but I guess I just have an abnormal neighbour. Thanks ja Nong Tai. ;D

ECCO founder and his daughter has very good relationship with Danish royal na ka. I once met Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark very close....he's so handsome and has aura, too hehe. Good luck I were ^^ and many times his father visited ECCO (Thailand) to open new building.

The Danish royal family is very down to earth. You could meet them mostly anywhere in DK. Once (or twice) Joachim, the brother of Frederik, got stopped by police man for speeding. Joachim had to pay for speeding ticket and since he is a Prince, he was on the first page newspaper the next day.

The father of Frederik and Joachim names Henrik. He is French. He has been married to the Queen like 30+ years or something and been living in DK since, but his Danish was so bad. He is a kind of a joke around DK. ;D Even there was a rumor that he is gay. lol

This does not surprise me: One is checking the poles, one is checking the planks and the third one is checking if the other two are doing a good job ;)
