Of course I can't forget, I had to stay at the hospital, couldn't go home in case of emergency, my colleages, nurses, doctors stand by. Yes! I could see Central World and others building burnt down, black smoke around. My colleage got shot.

Yes! I will vote, but not vote for "VOTE NO" it can't help. I won't vote to the bully gang who done this to my city.

Good for you Neung.

I remember 19th May. I saw Arisman escaping in a white 4x4 car at Asoke. Someone fired a grenade or rocket nearby. 50 guys on motobikes rode around the car.

I rushed back to get my staff out of the restaurant. A soldier stopped me and told me I couldn't go up that road. I explained about my staff. He gave me a young soldier to run next to my bike as I crossed the junction because there were snipers shooting people.

I managed to get all my staff out safely. I had no gas and my back wheel was broken. I went down Asoke and saw Red Shirts burning SET. I went to Rama IV and saw them attacking an electrical station.

I rode my bike over the river. I kept stopping to look back at the city and the smoke rising. It was heartbreaking. I can't understand who would vote to allow these people to run the country.

BKK riots went largely unreported here in the U.S. Didnt realize how bad they were and how much the military was involved. We have had horrible riots in Ca, the worst I remeber was the aftermath of the Rodney King decision. Blacks rioted everywhere, mostly in L.A. but it trickled into the area where I lived also. The police were helpless and did not enforce any curfews, assembly, anything. They videotaped it all and went after the perps later. Sad part was they went after firearms violations on people protecting their property, homes and business's, and confiscated some of their weapons. The So Koreans, whose business's were very close to the center of the riots, were hit the hardest, and lost most of their firearms in the resulting aftermath.

Hoping things stay peaceful. I think most of the violence will happen after the election. Is there any neutral colored shirt that I can wear when I walk down the street so that I can be safe? Red and yellow are now out of my wardrobe for now!

Danno: The Watts riots were worse, yes, but more localized to the Watts area. The Rodney King riots were more widespread and effected more people in So Cal. My Dad got his car shot up in the Watts riots, just driving down the freeway. During the RK riots, at the place I worked, the owners requested that if any of us had firearms, to bring them to work to protect our cars and workplace. Nothing happened, fortunately, but the riots came within a few blocks of work. Scary times.

Living right in the middle of the red shirt stronghold during the protests I will never forget. No matter what they say, it was not a peaceful demonstration. I was there in the beginning when the police and army came and asked them to contain the demonstration to just the main Ratchadamri / Sukhumvit intersection. The police came in riot gear but stood on one side of Mahatlek Soi 2 while they announced that the protesters should not extend the protests beyond the soi (I lived in Soi 2).

Pretty soon protesters started throwing water bottles and other stuff at the police. Then they charged the police and the police, with amazing restraint, just kept backing up as the protesters kept pushing them back.

I guess the military decided the police didn't have the backbone to contain the situation so they formed a line and the police faded away. They stood on the sidelines and ate with the protesters while the military tried to negotiate some boundaries for the protest.

More and more red shirts swarmed the area and they went around on other streets so they flanked the military on all sides. Soon the military caved in and were "granted" permission to evacuate their troops.

I have to admit that once the police and the military backed down they were treated well. The protesters offered them food and water as they retreated.

The red shirts immediately extended the protest all the way to Rama iV after that and began setting up road blocks.

Bill, I had a couple of Red Shirt journals before the relaunch. Do those still exist? I can't seem to see them.

I wish I could comment more, but I don't have any words. I had let out enough word of hatred earlier last year and I do not wish to do it again. I don't feel anything but hatred towards what happened last year, and whoever did it. It is not their lack of opportunity or their background that I detest. It's their lack of common sense, responsibility and decency that disgust me more than anything.

No matter how poor or uneducated one is, they should know what is good and what is bad, especially towards their homeland. If they cannot see far beyond lies or know what's right for the country, they don't deserve my respect, and sympathy.

My family always goes to the poll station together. We place this duty as one of the highest responsibility for the country. I do not care much who's going to win, at least I know I do my part and I hope the rest of you (Thai people) do too.

Thanks for all your comments.

The real reason why mark was banned comes out...pure jealousy, I admit it.
