well i wouldn't have thought the farang retirement community in pattaya would be representative of a retirement community anywhere else in the world .... never mind Thailand !!! hahahahahaha !!!!

maybe isaan would be a better idea .... or the north of thailand !! especially from a real estate, retirement housing type survey !!

and us farangs r not difficult at all !!!

you are the most welcome . . . and if you have facebook maybe you can try to join this group 'Isaan, see you soon' coz there are many farangs who loves Thailand lives in Isaan. :) I also support the comment above . . . as i don't think Pattaya is good target group for you to get information :)

There are several estates nearby.

My father lives on one of these estates in a place called Bang Saray (about 25km south from Pattaya).

There are a few hundred houses. Almost all of them are owned by farangs and most of them are retired. Generally (and not surprisingly) the owners are nearly all male and have Thai partners.

In regards to the ex-pat retirement community in Issan, I had the privelege to meet several UK, Dutch, and Swiss ex-pats that had retired and hung out at a former Dutch kick-boxers bar in southern Issan. We shot pool with them, entered their mini-pool tournement, and had a blast. I would venture to guess that these ex-pats are probably more representative of the main stream retirees in Thailand. They were all great people, simple needs and expectations, and a pleasure to party with.

Pattaya itself might not be the right spot for your survey:

- In the morning, they are all sleeping and would not hear a grenade exploding in their room

- In the afternoon, they have a hangover, are unfriendly and will not understand what you are asking from them

- In the evening, they are horny and will not be listening to what you are asking from them because they are peeking at your b**bs and trying to grab your a**.

- And finally, during the late night, they will be so drunk that you cannot reach them anymore...

So you better look for another area... ;)
