My blogs (journals) in TF is now 460 altogether and 461 with this one. I, honestly, glad that I have made it this amount since I registered as a member here in October 2004 ( regularly active in late 2005 ) and I always want to produce more blogs as they are stencil online so I can go back read it anytime I feel like to.

I don’t write much recently, not that because I write else where, I just don’t write at all :-( I find express my feeling in English is more difficult than before and I cant write what I want to tell properly in English –lol and I simply give up. Not sure that my thought is more complicated to be described or my English is gone taking vacation.

Anyway, We (TF) have had a great party this month of last year. It’s the PINK PARTY which hosted by P’ Nicky (Pandorea) and had Dave (English_Bob) as main assistant celebrating my and Chatty (bCool at that time)’s birthday. It was a great fun of TF party that I ever attended (well, I attended only a few TF parties by the way, for everyone info. –lol)

This year, as of the kindness of P’ Nicky, she contacted me asking if I would like to celebrate my BD again in a Pink (or any colors choosing) theme, I told her that I cant handle it no more I still choked with appreciation of hers from last year arranged Pink Party for me, this year let’s do something else useful (lol). Therefore ‘Helping Hands Event’ invented.

Since the traffics in TF is not busy like before, I (still) blame the difficulty of modern functions of the website which I called ‘unfriendly user’ seemed people in TF not care to click anything out of there curiosity (I still dont know how to post vid clip in my blog yet no one kind enough to instruct me how to). Well, you will see only certain people signed up joining the party. But I know there would be many no-signed up people show up, keep my fingers crossed.

Besides from Sep 1st is the beginning of September’s day, its also Iain D’s birthday. Iain D. is stramash, he is TF’s icon and Cerys’s daddy and also is many TFer’s good friend and is my beloved long lost brother. :D Happy Birthday to you, Iain.

Iain is an icon. I've never met him, but I respect him.

You're right that the older members view the new TF as user-unfriendly. However, the younger generation knows what's going on as it's very user friendly. I am and will be stubborn about that. Not just physically but generationally, the older members will die out while being replaced by the new. The new setup is what the world knows...not just Thailand and the older generation (literally millions of people use this).

I hate saying this as I LOVE...literally LOVE a lot of the older members that are lost here. However, the world moves fast. At least that's what Darwin would have said.

don't agree with U at all Rob .... i don't have any problems whatsoever with the new TF !!

but TF hasn't lost the old members because of the upgrade (well not many IMO) ... it's because of FB !!

u look on there .... every day u see May, Deester, Dr Sassy, Mike etc etc .... all ppl who used to regularly post on here !!

and i really don't see how TF is going to attract those ppl back and/or get new ppl interested.

and it's not just TF that's been affected (IMO) .... myspace, friendster etc ... all seem to have lost out to a greater or lesser extent to FB !!

Ahhh... TF is now set for young generation.. wondering where are they ? oh you may mean Ciaran? Stevie ? EB? Dave40? Stramash? Kanautz?

well if we're the young generation ... i'd ******* hate to see the old one !!!

not wanting to bang on about this ... but i'm gonna anyway ... that point would be fair enough IF the older members were being replaced by the new .... but i just don't see that happening !!!

* there's never (in my memory) been fewer members online than now !!

* journals/blogs r nowhere near as busy as they used to be !!!

* the forums r quieter than ever !!

* not as many parties/events being posted !!

don't get me wrong ... i like TF and still prefer it to FB ... i just wish there were more ppl active in the blogs/forums !!!

but to try and pin TF's woes on the "older generation" not being happy with the new TF as the reason for it's decline and not to worry as they're gonna be replaced by a new/newer generation is head in the sand time !!

now maybe there's a lot more "hidden activity" than before and if that's the business model fair enough ... but TF certainly doesn't appear to generate the traffic/interest it used to ... which is a shame !!!!!

You have to keep in mind, though, that the people buying premium memberships rarely ever step into the forums...and I wouldn't either! TF is mostly paid for by guys searching for girls...lets get that out of the way.

As much as I love hearing Ciaran go off in the forums and blogs, he doesn't really pay the bills. You have to keep in mind that TF literally costs us hundreds of dollars to keep running every month. If we don't get at least double that in revenue...it's not worth it. As I said before, I'm not here to become a millionaire...I'm here because I love TF. The new people signing up find it much more user-friendly, and even if they are just sending out PM's, they allow us all to keep TF alive...

You can't please all the people all the time...

as i said if there's hidden activity which is the business model that's fair enough ... but if all they r doing is sending out PMs it wouldn't matter how user-unfriendly TF was .... even Paul the Turd could still manage to do that !!!!

and i appreciate u gotta pay the bills and make some money .... i just wish there was a bit more memebership activity in the blogs and forums !!

No worries...I'm in the same boat. I wish we had the same activity going on as before. Alas, we don't...but things like this don't happen overnight. TF will keep going through waves.

Regarding paying the bills...it's ok...just buy me some bottled beers tonight and we'll call it even!

Ahhh, not this topic again :-)

First off, Ciaran is right. FB has taken a certain amount of traffic from TF over the last few years. However, one of the things I have noticed about TF people who have migrated over to FB or Twitter or whatever is that many of them are different people on FB than they were here. So it's not like if so-and-so is spending time on FB instead of TF that they're writing and contributing like they did on TF.

For instance, one person who used to be one of the most active contributors on TF is very active on FB . . . playing Farmville. I see 30 status updates a day about them needing a chicken or to get a new tractor but if you to to their actual wall/profile they haven't really updated it with anything personal in weeks.

Likewise, another TF'er that comes to mind used to be fairly active here in the journals/blogs but now just shoots out 20+ status updates a day of famous quotes, motivational messages (also quotes from someone else), and links to articles/websites. For every 15 or 20 of those they might post something about themselves (i.e. "Hey, going to my friend's b-day party tonight."). They haven't written anything longer than 3 sentences in over a year.

And it's not just TF'ers. Many of my friends have gone the same way. And this is sort of what I do for a living when I'm not banning people here on TF :-) I have over 800 friends on FB (of which, over 90% are people I really, actually know), nearly 1100 people follow what I post on Twitter, etc, etc.

As Rob pointed out though, TF is really two different pieces. One part is the TF community and the other part is the TF dating site. The community part is not really a money maker for us. Either you bought a lifetime premium membership 5 years ago or you never will buy a membership.

But, for Rob and I the community part is valuable on a personal and emotional level so we do what we can to keep it going but the community is everyone who participates, not just us. In many ways, that is the type of traffic that FB has stolen from TF. And FB does a really good job in that department.

Personally, I prefer TF because I like to write more than 2 sentences and I don't care about what you ate for breakfast this morning. But what I like may not be what everyone else likes. That's cool. What we'll try to do is work WITH FB instead of fighting it. We'll keep adding in features that help people live in both the TF and FB worlds.

However, the dating is the money side of the site. That's the part that pays the bills and make sure we generate enough money to afford to keep the community side going. That traffic is mostly silent to the community. Guys and girls trying to get their flirt on don't necessarily care about writing a journal or debating how far to the left the Labour party is. :-)

And that is something that FB is HORRIBLE at. FB is about your existing circle of friends. On many profiles you can't even see any information unless the other person accepts you as a friend. That would make something like meeting new people or flirting far more difficult.

But what I will say is that if people appreciate the community side of TF they should try to help grow the community. I was never active much in the forums before a few years ago but it does seem like no newbie is even given the chance of settling in. Rob and I have worked at getting newbies to come and introduce themselves in the forums and it's like leading lambs to the slaughter. LOL.

I'm not putting the blame on anybody in particular. Heck, I've taken a few swipes at the "I'm looking for a girl to show me around Thailand" newbies myself. It's just that if we want the community to flourish we should keep in mind that we need to replace some of those who have moved on to FB with new people so a more welcoming feel from the existing members helps everyone.
