Stories from the weekend
I have a few stories that I want to write about, all revolving around relationships.
On Friday, my family and I went to Central Festival Pattaya for some grocery shopping. It wasn't all that busy, because it was getting late. While I was browsing around the fruit section, I saw two farangs, they looked to be father and son. The father seems to be in his 70's and the son in his 40's. They were with a Thai mother and a Thai daughter. The mom looks like she's in her early 50's and her daughter in late 20's. The mother was hanging on to the father, and the daughter had 2 apples in a clear plastic bag. The mother then said to the daughter in Thai "Go ask him (to buy them for you)."
It didn't register to me at first but the mother was saying it a few times to the daughter, until the daughter walked to the son and showed the apples to him. I guess the daughter couldn't really speak English, and the mother was doing all the talking to the father. The son looked awkward communicating with the daughter but from I observed, the mother seemed to really want her daughter to kick it off the with son. Last sentence I heard was the mother repeating to her daughter "Go ask him (to buy the two apples for you).
From the way they dress, I am sure they can afford two apples. Also, wouldn't it be fun to go a double date with your parent (on both sides)?
Second story, I acted like a ***** today. Someone I know from a website took me out for lunch with her boyfriend. They just met for the first time a few days ago, and they are really in love. The lady I know doesn't speak that good English, but can carry out basic conversation. I was trying to be friendly and talked to her boyfriend, when the situation changed and we started talking about history, politics, and religion. I ended up having a conversation with him, and the lady I know wasn't able to join in because of her basic English. I ended up having 20 mins conversation with the guy, and left the lady dumbfounded.
I knew it wasn't very nice doing that. I am sure she wouldn't like me much afterwards. The guy seems smart, I don't know if he'd be content sharing a life with someone, who cannot share a more sophisticated conversation with him. But I guess people look for different things in their partner, he might be glad not having to argue so much with a strong-head like me.
The third story and the last, I had been super busy this weekend, going to BKK for a day to sort out some orders for my big day. I planned to order invitation cards and souvenirs from this one place in Little India, but turns out that the lady who owns the shop was definitely NOT helpful. She didn't even try to offer solution to my request, just said that she couldn't do it, and walked away. That meant I had to start over. I went hunting for a new shop for the invitation cards, which had to be done this weekend, otherwise, it'd be too late. Looked for the new designed of the cards and eventually found a place to have it done. Yet, I was still left with no souvenirs.
I then went to a wedding dress shop to have my dream dress tailor made. I am very happy with this shop since the owner was very nice and extremely helpful in suggesting the right design that would suit my imperfect body. I cannot wait to try on my dress in one month time.
I called to make arrangement with make up and hair stylists, get more details of cinematographer, jewelry shop, tailor shop for my fiance wedding suit and finally found a new souvenir that I hope to get. I am amazed at how much I could get done over a weekend. Once the research process was over, things are getting much faster.
But no, it's not gonna be done easily. I still haven't called the sales at the venue for food and venue decorations, haven't planned for the engagement day, and haven't found my dream hair style, make up, and the miscellaneous like music and cakes etc.
I seriously never thought planning a wedding could be this difficult!!
Have a great Sunday and working week ahead. I am soooooo NOT ready for Monday!
