Things happen for a reason

Do you believe that things happen for a reason?

I have been trying to get a special favor from a hotel that our company is working with. But the hotel has been very slow in getting back to me for my request, and I was on the verge of losing my patience with them. I was going to follow up with them again today.

Then I was supposed to go for dinner with a group of ex-colleagues tonight but I changed my mind earlier today and told them that I wasn't going.

Earlier tonight, a colleague at work told me of a very special deal from a very nice service apartment that I used to stay at before, at a much better location. So I called to my fiance and made a booking immediately.

If the first hotel had gotten back to me earlier, if I had gone out with my ex-colleagues, I would not have heard of this very good offer.

I always believe that if I don't get something that I want, there is always something better waiting for me later. And it has already worked out for the better for me. Weird, but I am definitely not complaining! :)

I'm not sure if things happen for a reason but I do think that when hotels and other businesses drag things out they are at risk of losing the business to someone else.

I've been wanting to write a blog post about this. Sort of my observations on being home vs. being in Thailand and just the general attitude towards customers and how the tourism industry in Thailand needs to catch up with the rest of the world as more and more things are becoming standard.

Well if you don't like it, then GO HOME!!

oh wait...

I like to think that things happen for a reason. Sometimes things just work out in weird ways and you just go with the flow. When things suck, wait a minute, day, or week, and things will turn around.

LOL.

You know what I mean. If the hotel would have quickly gotten back to her and given her a decent deal she would be booked there. They would have the business.

Instead, even with business not good for tourism right now, they took their time and they lost her business.

Sooner or later that is going to catch up with businesses. Their business will keep slipping and those businesses that try hard will get business.

I was looking at a building to rent on Soi 11 for a new business.

I contacted the landlords and it took forever to get any response for any query. I made multiple visits in person and dozens of phone calls and emails.

Finally, after waiting too long for a response, I contacted them and was told the building had already been rented out to someone else, but there was another available. I told them "No way... everything you've done so far has been slow and unprofessional... Why on earth would I sign up for a 6 year contract with people who do business like this?"
