Go to Wiesbaden. Beautiful little town about 1 hour outside of Frankfurt. Not a lot to do but very nice and relaxing. You can take a train from Frankfurt to Wiesbaden.

Lived in Wiesbaden for three years when I was in the military. Had a lot of fun there but I'm guessing it's changed pretty radically since the late 1980's considering that many/most of the US military bases there have been closed.

Mainz is also very close to Wiesbaden and another beautiful little town.

As far as Frankfurt, other than partying or other forms of getting into trouble (I don't even want to talk about that), never went there much other than for concerts.

Go for some shopping on the 'Zeil' (shopping street), especially My Zeil (shopping center).

Go from the Zeil through Fressgass (stop for a lunch or coffee&cake there) towards the Alte Oper (opera house), make some pictures.

Go back to Zeil and towards the 'Alte Roemer' (old town with old buildings), then proceed to the main and walk along the main border there.
