TF Has Gone Mobile

We’ve been sitting on the fence for a long time in terms of whether or not we should offer a TF iPhone or Android application. One factor that impacted our decision to keep waiting was that the application we’ve been looking at is somewhat expensive and it’s still getting a lot of bug reports on the company’s message boards.

But, being the techno-weenies we are, we couldn’t hold out any more. We’ve launched two different ways to get your TF fix on your Android and iOS mobile phones.

We’ve rolled out support for two different mobile phone applications which you can download and install. Both applications will allow you to cruise the forums and private messaging in an easy-to-read interface built specifically for your mobile phone. Unfortunately, neither currently supports blogs or other features on the TF site but if you do a lot of forum reading or like to answer your private messages in your phone rather than going to the TF site, both will do the job.

The first application is called Tapatalk. Personally, I like it the better of the two. You can purchase it ($2.99) in the iTunes store if you have an iPhone or iPad and if you go to their site they have versions available for Android, Blackberry, and even an app that lives in your Google Chrome web browser.

The second application is called Forum Runner (Android and iPhone only) and comes in a free version which allows you to read the forums and your private messages but you cannot post or respond. The paid version ($1.99) allows you to post and respond.

Rob and I have been experimenting with both applications and they seem to do the job pretty well. I’ve always found responding to PM’s while on my phone to be a bit of a pain and in the last week or so I’ve been using Tapatalk I’ve been in heaven. It’s so much easier to use than trying to go to the website and use private messaging in Apple’s Safari.

Because these aren’t TF-only apps, you have to use the app’s search feature to find us. Just type in “Thailand Friends” and subscribe to our forum. If you’re a member of other forums, you can search within the application and see if they support Tapatalk or Forum Runner as well so you can manage all of your forums from the same app. Once you purchase the app you can follow as many other message boards as you like from within the app at no additional cost.

So if you’ve been wanting to use TF on your mobile take a look at Tapatalk and-or Forum Runner. Both are great apps and worth the money.

Just a note: We don’t make any money off of the above applications. They are sold by the companies mentioned above. We don’t have an ability to offer discounts or free apps.

Hey Asshole! I'm typing this from Tapatalk. Lol

I'm not really. I can't see the blogs but I can see the forums.

Yeah, they haven't done blogs yet. The "official" app that is buggy and expensive does do Blogs :-)

We'll see how it goes. If enough people begin using the Tapatalk or Forum Runner apps and they fix some of the issues people have complained about, we may drop a few coins and buy that.
