Chicken and Egg issue

Which comes first, the Chicken or the Egg? I'll start with the egg first.

Egg

At the moment, thanks to the outbreak of the Bird Flu in Malaysia, Singapore is experiencing a Eggxodus of EGGS as we get our supply of poultry produce from our dear neighbours. The government have imposed strict measures on bringing in poultry and related produce across the border. Customs officers look into each and every grocery bag (hmm wonder if they have strip searches) going through the checkpoints and confiscate any such items found.

Yes! For now, poultry produce get the same treatment as Chewing Gum, Porn, Weapons and Class A drugs. As such, the normally ubiquitous and cheap food item has become somewhat of a rare commodity! Trust me..first time I experienced this...shout of joy and a beaming smile the moment i opened my fridge and found 10 Eggs in there! (normally this effect can be achieved with a 6 pack of beer.) There was a news report on thieves breaking into restaurant to steal eggs (I'm not kidding ya!) Discussions are abuzz of How, When and Where to get the cheapest eggs. It is scary i'm tellin ya...I swear I will never take this food item forgranted again!

Chicken

A local chinese term for a Hooker/Prostitute in Singapore.

The story

Last nite, I was faced with this Chicken and Egg situation. As I was walking back to the car after dinner, to my amazement..I was approached by a hooker. There were about 4 to 5 of em sitting at the bench along that street. This is not in a sleazy part of town in the dead of the nite mind you! This was smack in the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road. Never in my entire life in SG I have seen such brazen soliciting in that part of town. Normally there is a designated part of Singapore (infamously know as Geylang) for this kinda activities and like most things in SG are under government control.

Anyway..I politely said "Not tonite, I got a headache" to that one and went on my way. Weird thots came into my head on my way back.. I found that there are stark similarities between the "Chicken" and the Egg at this point in time:

1. Both are pricey.

2. Both are hard to come by.

3. Both are only permitted in SG under strict government controls.

4. Both are only fit for use if not fertilised.

Ahh the little ironies of life in Singapore. Got home and was greeted by a plate of Omelette which I consumed faster than u can say Omelette. That! ..ladies and gents was an Eggcellent end to an Eggxtraordinary yet Eggtremely unEggciting nite...aww Shuddup Naz!

The End
