Perhaps someone has different info... but ....a non-immigrant B Visa is the prerequisite to getting a work permit. The 90 days allows time for the work permit process to take place. I don't think you have any more 'rights' on this visa than you do on a tourist visa, except that you are allowed to work, while your work permit is being done.

Once you have a work permit, you can then get a bank account, register a vehicle and many other things.

Yeah, you probably need to get a work permit. It's quite the headache...and it's a headache that never goes away.

You can still get a bank account here. Try going to different Bangkok Bank branches and asking. Rules depend on the branch and how the staff/management are feeling that day.

I have a non-immigrant visa. Bought a car without problems, oppened a bank account without problems.

I actually like K-bank... K-cyber banking works well all the time, paying bills and stuff.

btw... it's easy to buy a car... but you probably want to insure it, at least 3rd party (don't want to pay out for some a**hole's 10,000,000 baht merc)
