Well here's some of my recent news. I know many of you have an interest in Sand, with the hope that she'll be moving back to BKK so that you can get your evil clutches on her! Over my dead body!

I've also logged in to TF several times in the last few days, and got some decent amusement reading about and leaving a few of my own turds here and there in the forums and journal comments.

I thnk Nong Nooch is going a bit crazy though. ;) Somebody find that girl a decent guy for LTR!

Going back to full time studies (plus instructor/TA work and some private tutoring) in September. That'll give me a decent income through work and university support, which is good, instead of living half off dwindling savings while trying to drum up enough tutoring work, as I have been recently.

It would be nice to travel to BKK at Xmas, especially on frequent flyer points. I have enough for two return tickets :). Then again, I could always take Sand down to the Caribbean, where she won't have a problem getting a visa, at least for some places. I'd love to visit Cuba for a couple of weeks to combine some beach/relaxation time with a bit of a tour of the place before Fidel goes to the Great Commune in the Sky. (Anyone for a death pool bet involving Castro?) I'm sure Cuba is going to start going through major changes once Castro is out of power. Hopefully it won't be all the way some greedy Cuban emigres living in Florida imagine it, gleefully rubbing hands, impatient for the day when they can take over business. The Cubans have made some important advances in terms of health and education and equal access for all in a poor country. It would be a pity to lose those good things along with the evils of dictatorship.

Actually, not true. They can go anytime, and do, but they must fly out from Mexico or Canada. When I was there, met lots of Yanks.

And Graham, that sounds like it must be just south of the Danforth. I like that area,. Housing will skyrocket there over the next few years. Sounds like you've got all under control, good work.

Yep, just south of Danforth between Coxwell and Greenwood. Decent rent because vacancy rates are up and the city has a renter's market for the first time in many years.

But the air this year is absolute shite, combined with the extended heat wave this summer. The air is still clean compared to BKK, but this is the worst it's ever been for Toronto. It's as hot and humid here every day at the moment as a typical BKK day. I'd be out of here except for ph.d. and Holm. How's Vancouver?

Our weather is shite. We had a great early spring, but summer has just finally come around. it is still rainy and cool some days. I live in a great area though, near Oak and Broadway, close to everything without the congestion(BKK'ers would laugh at our version of congestion). I ride my bike down to the beach to meet friends and play guitar on a nice night. Then some improv stand up, booing and heckling of course. Then pounds of sashimi and pints. Repeat as necessary. I miss the honey garlic wings at the Duke of Gloucester though, right across for the old Church of Scientology on Yonge. Sand looks impossibly hot in those pics. Drool drool. Good on ya mate. - Japh

no it illeagle to do that ,and has been for awhile now.if they go threw canada they are arrested and face jail time.their passports are checked for a cuba visa stamp.Just like now cubans that are now american citizens are only allowed to return to cuba to visit family once every 5 years or something like that.It was big news a few years ago when the U.S. started cracking down on citizens using canada to goto cuba.Look it up,its not hard to find

it sur is doing fine, but i thing the U.S. should give tourist some slack. It been many years and cuba is no threat.

" However, 22,000 to 25,000 Americans travel to Cuba illegally, either as political activists or simply as tourists looking for a cheap Caribbean vacation. Most travel to Cuba through a third country, often on vacation packages from Canada or Mexico.

If U.S. citizens visit Cuba and fail to put it on the post-trip declaration form, they can be charged with perjury and their name entered into the Homeland Security Department database. If they admit to traveling to Cuba, they are subject to a fine of as much as $10,000.

Until recently, there were no administrative judges to hear the cases of those accused. But, with the push from the White House, three judges have been hired and are expected to begin hearing cases in the near future. "

In reality, If Cuba wants their dollars they will not stamp passports and let them in. Then, there is nothing the US can do unless of course the traveller admits they went to Cuba. It is news to me though that they are finally making it a punishable offence in the wake of 9/11. Also ironic that the US punishes their own citizens for a crime that the government continues with no valid explanation, Guantanamo.
