When it comes to big life decisions, its best to think with your gut. A new study has found that thinking too hard and too long, in fact, leads to decisions youll later regret. Researchers @ the U. of Amsterdam in the Netherlands asked 80 people to think over major life choices, such as the purchase of a house or car, or move to a faraway town. .5 of the participants were then given a series of brain teasers and puzzles to distract them be4 they gave an answer. With little time to agonize, these people made snap decisions -and ended up being more satisfied in the end. People who deliberated carefully - delving deeply in2 the data and drawing up lists of pros and cons -ended up unhappy with their choices. The results indicate that complex problems are better sorted out in our UNCONSIOUS minds, which we have an INSTINCTIVE WISDOM IN WIEGHING MULTIPLE factors." At some point in our evolution, we started to make our decisions continuously,"Ap Dijksterhuis tells, "New Scientist".... "And we're not very good @ it. We should LEARN TO LET OUR UNCONCIOUS HANDLE THE COMPLICATED THINGS."

Also you can spend your whole life thinking about it instead of just doing it.

One day I was sitting in my nice apartment in Beverly Hills enjoying another sunny day in southern california and just decided I'm going to Japan. I stayed there for 14 years.

Then 3 years ago I said, I'm tired of Tokyo, I'm going to Thailand.

I always listen to my gut. It's often smarter than my brain

i think that right there says it all, LOL

bunch of potheads doing research!! ugh... lol but ya im all about quick answers. If i have to stop and think, i end up over analyzing and over thinking it... so rash choices are much better :D

fair enough but intuition has to be adjusted.

the time for thinking is AFTER you screw something up, then pick it apart so you dont make the same mistakes.

when you make a decision you have to make your decision and just roll wit it.

malcolm gladwell wrote a book on this sort of decision making i think it's called 'blink'.

Some truth when I look back for sure.. but still I can recall decisions that were not the best made that way. I would like to qualify that with give your subconscious time to work things over and then decide when you feel sure. Avoid snap decisions whenever possible, but don't let the moment pass you by, too, just always be aware and ready to act if necessary. Take time if you can, not to think too much, but to just live with the ideas before you make them a part of your life. Just my two bits. I'll go on and see if it is really working. Often the most practical choice does not inspire us, and we need to be inspired.
