Indonesia Liveabroad Diving Trip
Some say, if you want to know about the country, then you should try to learn from its locals. Indonesia is very different than other country I have been to. One obvious thing is the heritage of its culture. For once, I get to see things I never thought would still exist, like a man whipped a lash on 2 cows to make them walk with the wooden carriage or even the horse taxi ride. The fence that decorated in red and white inspires by the national flag. The Christian church strangely located right next to the Muslim?s temple. Even the way the street becomes crowded at night in stead of during the daytime. The dark blue and emerald green colors on the dark,
finely grounded coffee beans sand. Or the strangely darken, big shaped of Salacca and its crunchiness taste. These are all the things I found amusing from visiting Indonesia
So that was the city that I experienced. Truth is, I hardly step my foot on the ground. Since I spent most of my time in Indonesia in liveabroad boat or so called ?the Diving Yacht?. I have to say thanks to all my unfortunates to give me the new horizons in life. First, salute
to the cold I got 2 days before my trip. Since I have booked the trip in
advance, ticket that already paid for with non-cancellation policy. I decided to get myself on the plane and go to Indonesia anyway. I dive neglecting my physical sickness and got the worst ear problem. 24 dives in 6 days. My ear doctor threatened me that if I still do this next time while having a cold I might get in to serious trouble. Thank god it wasn?t that bad. It?s funny how the word, ?diving? irritated the renowned ear doctor. He signed after his question was answered, ?What do you think you did that might cause this?? Now I learned that numerous divers pay the ear doctor a regular visit after their diving trip.
Secondly, salute to the other 23 people who supposed to be on the yacht with me but never show up. Now before you asked me any questions of whom I went to Indonesia with, I must inform you that I went there by myself. The Yacht agency confirmed that there will be 23 people boarding the yacht with me. So while I feel assurance that I won?t be the only one on the boat, I book the trip alone considering I?ve already paid for the trip plus it would be the only free time I have to go on vacation. So what happen to the other 23 people? I?ve been told that they have some problems with their visa, so they all cancelled. Thanks to them, I never feel so good about diving as much as this time. Since I was the only customer on the boat, I had the whole crews trying to please me. They treated me like a family! The service was exquisite. The yacht itself has elegant interior. Air-condition cabins, leather upholstery, wood furniture and huge plasma screen TV. The food was the best. And they serve 4 meals a day.
During my stay in the boat, everything is quite routine. Start from wake up call @ 7 am, Some coffee then 1stdive. Breakfast then 2nd dive. Lunch then 3rd dive. Dinner then night dive. Though I was the only customer, I never dined alone. I had dinner with the crews, making jokes, talking about the fishes they have seen, the places they have sailed. And best of all, I gain the best diving experience I ever had. Just so you can see the picture, I dived with 4 dive masters, all of whom try to show me some strange marine creatures. They even gave me tips for taking underwater photos. On the very last day, a professional marine
photographer joined us on the boat. He taught me new techniques to approach the fish ( as I always scares them away  ), also how to get the best shot. That?s how I ended up with so many nice photos. Lessons well learned.
Thirdly, salute to my cellular phone provider that automatically roams me internationally. So I learned how expensive each phone call costs and how text message should be a better option. Also how hard
it is to get the signal on the boat. On the mother?s day, the only line I
get to say to my mother was, ?Hello?Happy mother?s day!?. Then the line got cut off due to no signal. How efficient it is! Then the next time I get to be on the phone was 3 days later. So people, please do not be mad if you lost my contacts. I would probably be on the island or the boat some where. You should be happy that you are in the more civilized place, trust me?.  ^-^
3 more women and one of the boyfriend boarded
the boat on my last day of diving. Too bad they came when I already got used to the loneliness of being the only customer. One of the women made her own log book which I found very cute. (If you often try to buy log book, you will always see how expensive it is. Also how plain the designs are.) This is such a great idea -making your own log book. She said, ?so if she ever runs out of the paper, she could just print it out.
I was offered to stay longer on the boat. Since they treated me like a family and it?s somehow sad to leave. I had so much fun even though it?s so quiet on the boat. But if you were on the boat for a week without getting bored, then you should become a crew. I was craving to come
back to the city. I miss my friends, internet, the TV, the songs on the radio, the car, the dress and the sandals. I shared my diving experience with them. My favorite dive sites in Indonesia are Angel?s window, Nudi Falls and Jahir. (Jahir was named after 5 divers who discovered the site. So it is J. A. H. I. R. I?m honored to get the chance to dive with one of the diver whose name is a part of Jahir.) The white sedan appeared on the police pier, it?s time to leave and all the crew were saying good bye to me. I waved?.yep?.see you in Burma?. ^_- Now
I?m heading for some real challenging??the Sharks and Manta rays.
