Cannibalism

This is so brutal??

My dad is in to fish breeding. And 2 weeks ago, the eggs turned in to baby fishes. Now our tank filled with about 100 baby fishes. They eat small red worms for food. And they are cannibalism.

Today I came home and found 4 baby fishes die. The live ones are eating the dead ones. The carcass of the fishes have big hole in the stomach area. How cruel...

Once, a friend asked me to take care of her hamster. It turned out the hamster was pregnant. It gave birth to 6 babies. One day the mother hamster moved her nest to the other corner of the cage. One baby hamster was forgotten and left at the old nest. A day passed without food from its mother and the baby hamster apparently smaller than the other ones. When the mother finally found her child, she ate it. It must be the animal instinct to get rid of the weak ones and use it as food source. I came back home and what used to be the forgotten baby hamster ? an arm and a leg. When my friend came back to pick up her pet, I feel so relief. It will be the last time for me to have a hamster as a pet.

With the hamsters it might not be a matter of eliminating the weak ones. Could be the same thing that goes on with cats.

Male cats will kill kittens if they aren't the father. This way, they keep their own bloodline dominant in their area.

It's instinct. Not premeditated cruelty. Terrible, but the way of the animal world.
