  1. Only one of the suspects has been detained, but both are known to be in Thailand. With their direct support by Syria, and Iran, with the civil unrest going on in Syria, and sanctions building against Iran it might be likely these are perpetrators, but I highly doubt they would be the resulting bombers, or they would have been arrested under whatever charges could be thought up. With direct coordination with Israel, and the USA, if there was the possibility they were bombers they would be in jail. There are easy ways to make that happen, or Israel would simply kill them, as they have been known to do in the past inside foreign countries. It is extremely unlikely they are targeting only Americans because the mix of tourists in Thailand at any location does not make it simple to target just Americans with the potential for a high number of Americans being the casualties, unless an airplane coming from the USA was targeted. Targeting Westerners without concern for which country they were from would be more practicle, but it would also have to be in a location that would not make Thailand turn completely against them because a national treasure was destroyed in the process. Thailand can be very vengeful in that respect. Tracking people like them as seems to be what was being done is usually intended to reveal their network within the country they are operating in. With them simply being in Thailand brings with it the potential of a network of sympathisers being recruited inside Thailand, or who they were intending to meet here from outside the country. This was the case a number of years back when a high ranking Philippines radical was arrested hiding out in Ayutthaya. There was never a terrorist threat. He was simply using the resources built up here to hide out, and had been for quite some time, meeting compatriates. Thailand is a vacation spot for many different kind of people, from most all countries. There has never been a foreign terrorist threat here, and there has been nothing Thailand has recently done to think their attitude towards Thailand has changed. Sure there is a form of civil war going on in the South, but it does not involve foreign elements, and there is no sign that was of any concern by the ones being tracked. Something else is going on that is not being revealed, and I doubt it has anything to do with a planned bombing in Thailand. I think that warning was just used to divert attention from what is really going on with tracking them. No other country's citizens received a warning which is highly suspicious with the mix of tourists here everywhere.
  2. Emergency Message to U.S. Citizens: Possible Terrorist Threat Note: Due to a technical error, some recipients received this message earlier followed by a recall a few minute later. You may disregard the recall. This message alerts U.S. citizens in Thailand that foreign terrorists may be currently looking to conduct attacks against tourist areas in Bangkok in the near future. U.S. citizens are urged to exercise caution when visiting public areas where large groups of Western tourists gather in Bangkok. U.S. citizens are encouraged to maintain a heightened awareness when out in public; be alert for unattended packages/bags in public/crowded places and report any suspicious behavior to the nearest law enforcement personnel. We also encourage you to keep a low profile in public areas, particularly areas frequented by foreign tourists.

  4. If you are going to Angkor Wat then you also want to visit Bagan in Myanmar so you get perspective. In Yangon take the circle train around the city, it only costs $1US, and lasts 3 hours hitting all 38 stops around the city. You buy your ticket at the number 6 train platform. From Inle Lake spend a few dollars and take the all day trip into the Shan plateau past Tangguii going to the KaKue temple area. It is very remote getting there, and back. Find the fashion shows in Myanmar in the different bars if you can, then buy some flowers. Spend the money and visit Myek, and shop for golden luster pearls raised there, or spend the money, and dive at untouched locations you can pick your own native pearl oysters at. Take the 2 day boat ride from ChangKong in Northern Thailand to LuangPraBang in the middle of Laos. It gets very remote. Rent a van from LuangPraBang to Phonsavan in Laos, then visit the plain of jars. After that rent motorbikes to explore out from the town on one of the 3 roads, then catch the bus to Vang Viang for your tubing, but watch out for the rip-offs, and police scams with planted contraband. Watch the morning alms procession of the Monks in LuangPraBang, then after that go to the morning market. this is all over by 10:00am starting at 6:00am, with the market opening at 7:00am. It used to close at 9:00am. Catch the sunset from the top of Phousi mountain in the middle of LuangPraBang with it's 359 steps to the top, after a day of kayaking down the Mekong. Go to Koh Chang (5 hours from Bangkok),and rent motorbikes to explore the island. You can stay on the beach for bt350 a night at Lonely beach, and spend a day snorkling to 4 different islands for bt550 including everything needed even lunch, this leaves at the South end of the island. It's the second largest island in Thailand with all West facing beaches, and the cheapest of all the islands to visit. Visit the morning wholesale gem market in Chantaburi. Rent motorbikes in Kanchantaburi and spend the day finding the waterfalls. Take the bus from Chaeng Mai to MaiHongSon, and visit a refuge camp. This will get you started to some of the things not many know about. There are many others but your time is short for some of the better ones.
  5. This is like the addict that quit cold turkey because he threw the needle away, but kept the dealer's phone number....lolololol. Delete your account so everyone knows what you did rather than letting them think your computer went down. Show them you are really in control, and can in fact quit by deleting your account....hahahahahaha.
  6. I have the choice of living anywhere in the world, and I chose Thailand for very good reasons. Try not to be like Buddha, he is dead, and his parts spread all over the world buried in the base of temples, and stupas. Be alive, and enjoy this place to it's fullest potential.
  7. Umm, so this is leaving the wife/girlfriend home, and not considering the good train, or VIP bus travel? Rented taxi/car with driver gets expensive. Organize your own tour, and take first class/second class sleeper on the train, or regular train for short close trips (it is real cheap), or VIP bus, they go most everywhere, with some form of regular bus going everywhere. For an example a taxi to Ayutthaya is about bt1200, or you can take the 1 1/2 hour train for bt30 (Thais right now still ride for free), then rent a motorbike right across from the train station for bt200 for the day. Return before dark, and another bt30 back to Bangkok. Neither of these options include drinks, food, and park entrance fees. This is just an example of planning yourself.
  8. This is more for someone that wants to stand, as Rob mentioned. http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONEY-Laptop-Computer-Rolling-Podium-Storage-Cart-Stand-/150732561108?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item23185c5ad4 Or like this as I was refering to first, and what I use for standing laptop use. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/NEW-LAPTOP-W3POD-STUDENT-PHOTOGRAPHER-UTILITY-DESK-TABLE-STAND-FREE-SHIPPING-/190522794503?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item2c5c0b2207
  9. Again nice thought, but I think 36 inches is still a wee bit low to be considered standing. You made it out of the bed though. Now you have to get out of the chair, and stand up. I know it's hard to do, but you can do it.
  10. That is happy news for a new year. There is an old wives superstition that if you want a boy, you, not Jeab, get one of those baby diaper safety pins with the blue safety closure, and carry it in your pocket, or billfold always until the birth. My brother-in-law did this resulting in two boys, and then changed to the pink safety pin, and they had a girl. It is old school thinking though so you have to believe in the superstition.
  11. Umm, if your idea of standing up involves the bed then that will work, but it's a little short if you literally mean standing up. It would work for Jasmine at her present height, but for you it is a little low.....hahahahaha. Better read more closely before you buy, and get disappointed. There is a product made for photographers that shoot photos tethered to their laptop though that will get you up to the real height of standing, but it connects to a tripod that is not included, so the whole setup will cost you about $200+. They are easy to find with a simple googe search, or now that you are in the USA again you can find them on Ebay. The thing you listed though will not work, unless you are refering to a different form of "standing up"....hahahahaha.
  12. Ummm, they're not even close as to the uniqueness of what Asian girls say. That is what a lame ass ladyboy raised in the USA says....haha.
  13. Flight of the Gibbon is so overpriced it is rediculous. If you like paying American prices in Thailand then go for them, and it isn't a double pricing deal, Thais get charged the same exhorborant prices. Single person for the 6 hour day package cost bt3800, with no discount for two people, and there are extra costs thrown in. The one hour package is only bt1800+ for one person, and not much is included. They are by far the most expensive day tour operation in Thailand, and it scares me to even think what this new package will cost.

    Cup of coffee

With life represented as the coffee, and the quality of life never changing, why would it not be right to try life in a different cup? The problem is not in enjoying what is in the cup you chose, it is in doubting you chose the right cup to hold your coffee, as is observed by everyone checking out the other people's choice of cups rather than blatantly appreciating their own choice to hold their never changing coffee.

    Year end summary 2011

It is not always the path you expect to follow that brings you to your dreams, it is that you do not give up reaching for them. Happy New Year my friend, and have a very interesting, and joyous new year, with many eventful years to follow. Reaching one dream does not mean you quit reaching for more. You have now chosen a path leading you on an unknown course in your life. Do not miss seeing a dream as you pass by it....hehehehe.
  16. With water damage to that extent, and I don't mean to disappoint you more, but there is a strong chance the wood in the walls of your home have also swelled, causing the door frames themselves to be out of line. So it would not be just a simple matter of getting new doors. From the looks of it, from your picture, the easiest thing to do right now is to trim (cut), the door down on the sides until it fits in the frame. Until everything dries out you do not know the total extent of the damage. A longer term project will be to get all new door frames, and doors when everything finally dries out. You might even have to tear out all the walling if the mold is too bad between the walls. This is a serious concern, and I do hope it is not that bad in your home, but water did get everywhere, and mold will form when water does not dry out fast enough. This is the biggest hazzard from the floods, the mold that will form.

    New thing.............

A start is to make him smoke outside because you do not want the home always smelling of smoke. The oil from the smoke really does coat everything in the home, from the curtains to the dishes, and second hand smoke will affect your health over time. Make it clear to him to start smoking outside, because it is your home to now. It is no longer just a house, it is your home together, and you want it nice. Get a little water spray bottle, or a squirt gun, and use it, to get it across to him you mean it about smoking outside. Then slowly work on getting him to want to quit completely.

    New thing.............

It is good to be very concerned about your husband's excessive drinking, and especially the smoking. The drinking can be suggested to just cut down, but you should get across to him that smoking will kill him quicker than you want, and will not allow you to happily grow old together. Smoking tobacco is one of the most addictive substances known, as the cigarette companies spent much research to get it as addictive as possible, and it does kill, in very horible ways, that you have to get across to your husband that he has to think about you, and not put you through that horror later in your life together. Get across to him you want to grow old together, not as his nurse because he is dying from cancer, or the other deadly deseases associated with smoking. It is also one of the hardest addictions to end, so if he does choose to quit, you have to help him all you can, but get it across to him that you do want to grow old with him healthy, not caughing his lungs out from emphysima, or with liver desease from alcohol poisoning.
  19. I use a media device called the Western Digital Media Hub. It is a 1tb hard drive unit that connects directly to your TV with an HDMI cable, has built in wifi, with 2 USB ports, and can link directly to YouTube to watch on your TV without downloading anything. The only thing is it does not have a Thai character set for typing in Thai script, but there might be something on their site for that. You can connect to it with wifi, or a cable from your computer for it to go online. It is a nice unit. The other thing is the newsgroups/usenet, there are 2 pretty active Thai groups in the alt.binaries.thai area, no soaps, just music, and movies, but no porn, or you can get some things off Rapidshare.
