  1. All of the above. (Yes, it's been a while.)
  2. On the margins of the fringes of the poorest mate? That's gotta be pretty bad. And adds weight to my argument. When the same World's resources which are used to maintain a private jet or fleet of cars or a lavish, decadent lifestyle are used, in equal measure, to afford some semblance of a life to those most desperately in need, I'll come round to your way of thinking. Though, I'd settle for capping and redistribution of individual wealth.
  3. You think too much Or not enough. I know a song that will get on yr nerves get on yrs nerves get on yr nerves and this is how it goes…. I know a song that will get on yr nerves get on yrs nerves get on yr nerves and this is how it goes…. I know a song that will get on yr nerves get on yrs nerves get on yr nerves and this is how it goes…. Try as I might, I can find no answer to that. You win.
  4. I must have slipped through the net.
  5. Good call. But there's sweet fa anyone can do about it now. And even if they could, they wouldn't. Why should they? I'd be the first to sign up for the rebellion. (Agree with the bloke you quoted.)
  6. Forced resize might be nice? Don't know about you but I gotta scroll the page up down and left to right just to get the overall pic. (Though it might just be me.) Sliver hailde rocks.
  7. You think too much ja. (Edit: added ja. wasn't myself.)
  8. Correct... now you can take the money you've already won, or you can move on to the next question. Remember you still have three lifelines left. The question is... What improvements could (should) be implemented in the Thai education system to improve the standard of English in the Kingdom? (For an additional bonus point) Is it really that important or can Thailand muddle by with Thinglish indefinitely? Play or pass? I still have my 3 lifelines right? I had thought you had used up your 3 lifelines? Welcome back though but pls try to hang out a bit longer this time as your contributions are not only sorely needed but as usual insightful. New look TF , new look PiAnt?l? I though piant had already used at least 1 lifeline Cheers guys, but I was told that rather than try to ban me again, it'd b e easier to just sell me the site. Can anyone lend me 199 Baht? I would but I dont wish to see you throw away your beer fund for the night.... Nice one. Priorities.
  9. Hi mate, Have you reached the point yet where you really just couldn't care less what happens to anyone else (particularly those who are just creaming it of the rest) after you're gone? I know I have. Mate, you either need to go out and procreate or hold a good friends baby or young child in your hands for a while and revisit this one. Have mate. Like the ones which die everyday for lack of water used to maintain golf courses in California mate or could live for a lifetime on a day's waste from supermarkets? Ah yes, something well worth hanging on to.
  10. Isnt that kinda what the Luddites said about machines? Who's to say they were wrong? We haven't reached the apex yet. Progress is only progress to those whom it progresses mate. you could be right... but we'd be a long time dead by the time anyone finds out.... For me... ive decided against buying iPhone or BB... f*ck it... I just need a phone that works well without all the bullshit. Well, mate, though I might argue the toss over the intrusion, I love the big touch screen wizzy stuff of the iphone and that little qwerty keyboard on the Blackberry. If I actually had anyone who might want to keep in touch with me, I'd consider one. (Copy of course.)

  14. Does anyone else remember a time when we weren't available to anyone from anywhere in the world 24/7? I don't think Apple or anyone else are actually developing these things to supply demand, so much as introducing them as we blindly travel along the path they have set for us. (Not the CherryBerry of course. Where can I get one of those?)
  15. When I was in Saudi I met people who seemed to be in pretty deep love and their religious laws prevented sex before marriage. Some of them were pretty loved up Loads of religious people who are very devout also follow such rules. Some of them must experience love before the wedding day. I think people like us (sexually active to sugar coat it) think it is not very possible because we don't do it and can't relate to it because we usually have sex rather quickly (within a few months). I agree attraction should be involved but for some (fat dude, hot girl, money not involved, or swap the subjects around) they must experience love without getting down and busy first. I don't think infatuation is quite the right word to describe it. Wouldn't that mean unequal in some way as you would be a bit like a member of the public infatuated with a pop star? I don't know the word off the top of my head but there must be a better one. I'd suggest that what you're alluding to is far from being in love. Being in love is nothing like having love for or loving something. It's animal, chemical, primaeval. Love, on the other hand, isn't. It can stem from being in love, but they're as dissimilar as two very dissimilar things. In a pod. (Though get back to me if that word pops in your head.)

What improvements could (should) be implemented in the Thai education system to improve the standard of English in the Kingdom? (For an additional bonus point) Is it really that important or can Thailand muddle by with Thinglish indefinitely? Play or pass? I still have my 3 lifelines right? Hmm.... I'll continue. How much have I won so far? Not that I want to win the jackpot of course; I'd hate myself for having so much money. Spooky. I had the exact conversation with a couple of students just the other day. One 28 and the other 24, have been studying English here since kindergarten, so why can't they speak? It's not knowledge, both have adequate vocab; grammar is an issue, and their confidence is low too as is their listening comprehension. As I told them, listen to a native English speaker and you'll soon realise that grammar mistakes are actually how we speak. Ask a native English speaker what a preposition is and they'll look blankly at you. Grammar is not necessarily the most important part of understanding and being understood. Their confidence and listening are both rooted in the same issue, which is lack of exposure. Why, after 20 odd years of study would anyone say shirt white? Because they are still thinking in Thai. What to change? All schools should be bilingual. If that's what they want.
  17. If you fell in love with someone without any physical attraction being involved, you'd only be infatuated with one particular facet of them; their intellect, power, presence etc, and not them as a person; something physical. I don't think it's at all possible to fall in love with a person without there being some kind of physical attraction. In love, of course, not being actual love.
  18. Pass. But, I'd lead him on a bit for a laugh.
  19. Give me time... Just by being here. Asking. Listening. Trial and error. Overall? Poor. But that doesn't mean that it's necessarily anyone's fault or that there aren't Thais who can't speak excellent English. Confidence is a huge factor and it's something they have difficulty finding. Black. Yes, not really a colour, but I like it anyway. And yellow. Actually, I studied Ancient and Classical History, but I'd hazard a guess that cheese had a lot to do with it knowing those French types.
  20. Very true. Very sadly. I'm sure most don't realise that there's only a finite amount to go around and for every extra dollar Gates or Buffet takes is one less for anyone else. IMHO amassing disgusting amounts of money is nothing to be proud of; in fact it's nothing but parasitic.
  21. Bob, on the other hand, appears to laud anyone who is tasty, sexy or cute and (coincidentally) has good English. Neung your English is excellent. Yay!!! PiAnt's back! Actually I'm learning Thai so I don't have to limit my options to good English speakers. How about your Thai? You're a long timer... do you speak? Read? Write it? Actually, I was referring to a totally different Bob. But, seeing as you ask and at the risk of repeating myself, yes ok, yes 80% and yes with spelling and grammar mistakes.

  23. Post nuclear holocaust anarchy sounds good to me.
