For Thailand Friend users only I am thinking of running a fun totally FREE basic composition photography workshop later this month. This is partly due to my rather less than considered Forum Threads I started when I first joined this website. ( Please don't search for them ). The workshop will take place at my Photography School in Chidlom, it will be relaxed and fun but I will teach some fundamental photography compositional techniques of use to photographers of all levels. I want to make sure I get a good response before posting a date but it will be early in March. Knowing about the no direct marketing allowed on websites like this I will leave you to find out about the school and me as a photographer. Google Photography School Bangkok, Asia or my name will give you any additional information if needed. For the critique at the end of the day's photography a bottle of wine goes down well. Beats giving the teacher an apple. Just a thought but please do get in touch ASAP if interested. Thanks, Jonathan Taylor

I've face the flood at my house which is under water nearly all my first floor. Good luck since more than a week, the water level is decreasing bit by bit. However, I can find the nice link to show very beautiful pictures from flood area in my province ^^. Yeah beautiful but sad or we could say beautiful nightmare. http://www.theatlantic.com/infocus/2011/10/worst-flooding-in-decades-swamps-thailand/100168/ Such as this pic A "reclining Buddha" inundated with floodwaters on October 10, 2011 at an ancient temple -- one of a number of UNESCO World Heritage sites in Ayutthaya province. 180mm L series Macro (hardly ever used) 70-200mm L series F2.8 MK1 Stabilised (medium use , a little paint chip but no damage). This one of canons most versatile and biggest selling optics. Would suit a serious amateur or pro photographer, I'm in BKK and you're welcome to test them.. Both come with hoods, the macro has a soft case but unfortunately the original boxing is in the UK. Both lenses produce very high quality photos and will fit any current canon DLSR/SLR Any offers?

The Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition by the Natural History Museum and BBC Wildlife Magazine is one of the main wildlife pic comps around. Check out the Adults awards for a great range of pics. The Animal Portraits section has the comps overall winner being a shot of a wolf jumping over a gate. There is also a Junior Awards section with some amazing shots by 10 - 17 yr olds.

National geographic travel magazine has an article about the best photography related websites. The make a difference into 5 categories : 1. Get inspired - learn by looking at the pics of great photographers 2. Gear up - sites about photo equipment 3. Learn the ropes - articles about photography and places to comment on each others photos 4. Share your pictures - about photo sharing sites like Flickr 5. Order prints - about print ordering sites (less interesting imho) Good article, I visit several of the mentioned sites daily... Photography Sites - Best of the Web

I am an amateur photographer. I was part of several photograph amateur exhibitions at the FNAC in France and at Tate Modern in England (yes they tend to publish pictures among the huge amouint of weird stuff they show). As I am going to Bangkok shortly to test new digital cameras, I would be looking for some new models for some shooting sessions. As you will see from the samples that will be shortly attached to my profle. the kind of pictures I do are either semiabstract or snapshots of daily life. Therefore I am looking for particular faces. Even if you haven't done any modeling it is not a problem and sometimes it may be a benefit as you will tend to be more natural. We say soemtime that the camera make people discover who they are. It tend to be very true for the people who never done any modeling. However please send me some samples earlier one as I would need to select the faces that could fit with the different projects I am involved in. Models looked for: Female only between 25 and 40 years old, expressive face, sparkling personalities. The shooting: First shooting will always be doen in a public area. It will consist of a few shots (30-50) and if you want to come with a friend you are more than welcome as long as he/she does not disturb the work. Models would require to bring their own make up. Second shooting will depend on the projects and is also most of the time outside or in studios. if successful, this may lead to a free trip to Europe for some additional shootings. (please contact me for more info on shootings on my portfolio) Reward: The first reward will obviously ( and lukily) having a great picture of you that you could show to your friends or include in your portfolio Second, a monetary incentive would be provided which will compensate for travel, time, other expenses Third, you may be contacted later on by an agency. I mainly interact with cinema agencies in Paris and London as I hate dealing with the one-finger-thin girsl from model agencies who have 14 years old and 2 years old of maturity. However this tend to be for short work(usually 2 weeks -1 months) Deadline: if you are interested please send me at least 2 pictures of you. one with face + shoulders and another one foot tto face. Please one with a smile is always better. Preselection will end on the 17th of October. Then I will contact you individually. Another thing, no timewaster please, it is already very diffcult to organise such event! :!: :!: :!:
