Didn't see an american football thread much less one about the playoffs. Who do you think is going to take it this week? Ravens vs Patriots I like the Patriots. Tom Brady is as clutch as you get in the post-season and he has the experience. Number 2 offense in the league if I remember correctly. The only thing they have against them is their horrible defense but I think Bill Belichick can patch it together enough. Joe Flacco is too inconsistent. The Ravens will need a big night from their defense and Ray Rice to stand a chance. Giants vs 49ers This one is a toss up in my eyes. You have Eli Manning who at times looks like a top 5 QB, but at other times... eh. Their defense is incredibly inconsistent too. 49ers are having a really good season this year but lack a lot of experience. I really don't know which way this one will go. What do you guys think? I hope theirs a couple other American Football fans out there.

So it looks like the fight everybody wants to see is going to happen. Pencilled in for March 13th 2010 and guess what? At the moment it looks like i'll be in Bangkok on that date. Where is the best place to watch early morning boxing? Tough one to call this, I'd like to see the Pacman win but I can see Mayweather catching him with a few shots that might be enough to win him the fight. Manny will go the distance though. Mayweather on points for me.

Big Mango moved up to the Red Division in 8 Ball this season (Thanks Lee) After a shaky start getting thrashed 7-1 from a VERY strong Sports Academy, we improved a little in our next two matches. Our 2nd game was a match at home against last years Red Division Champions Sportsman A which saw Mango run out 7-1 winners and we had another good win last Monday away to Old Other Office bar in Patpong, again winning 7-1. Myself, Ciaran, Super Dave, Lee, team groupies Teddy and Missy Ted get a break this week for Songkran and will be back in action next Monday at home to Sport 20-2. Anyone else playing this year?

Anyone know any sports bars that will be playing the games?

These commercials cost millions to make and cost millions to air (6 million USD per minute). We might as well show them some love on TF. I think last year's superbowl commercials sucked fart residue, but hopefully the 2011 commercials won't disappoint. Here is one leaked commercial for 2011...3 stars from me. And the top 10 ads from 2008:

It's Bangsaen Bike Week on the 26 - 27 November. (Shouldn't that be Bike weekend)? My bike is now ready (at last)! I plan to ride down on the Saturday morning (27th). Let me know if you would like to join me. (Big bikes only pls) It should be a good day out. Here is the link to the website. http://www.hatbangsaen.com/Bikeweek.html I have found a decent route there from Bangkok, via Minburi, it avoids the terrible bang-Na Trat Road. (Its 88Km from central Bkk to Bangsaen). Contact me here if you are interested.

i fully realize that the only 'real' sport is soccer football, and that the only sport for 'real men' is rugby football... however, as a tall sissy, i am also a fan of that favorite sport of tall sissies (if you dont think most hoops players are sissies, watch next time marcus camby throws a punch!!). college ball is a simple universe for me---carolina (UNC) and whoever's playing duke are my favorite teams no matter what. i went to carolina for undergrad, it's contractual obligation. but as far as the nba goes, i realize the league has its flaws and there are a high number of absolute knuckleheads in the game, but hey i'm an addict. i follow the preseason moves, etc. and i'm more a fan of good hoops than a follower of a favorite team (historically though my first team was the knicks, the second team the sixers, so my early life sucked ass). i am quite pleased at shaqsquatch's move to miami, and he even lost some weight (FOR A CHANGE). i can't wait to see kobe wantz sink the fakers now that he is the man (more like manchild) in LA.... my EARLY pick for the finals is miami beating minnesota, but i wont lock the pick until the season starts. anyone got any picks, comments, hoops-bashing, etc... please chime in otherwise i'll just sit here alone on this thread and collect dust....

To the TF gents : I need someone to try and explain the need for all these sitting on sofa watching sport on TV and beer thing. What is it all about? Most of the time you can sit in front of TF forever, and then ask us, ladies to bring you some beer.. Then you go out to watch sport on TV in a bar and drink beer with your buddies. I'll admit that I have shoes, bags and jewellery addictions but that?s easy to explain because "that's just the way it is," but I'd really like to hear from you...what's up with all these sport on TV and beer thing?? (sorry Rob, can?t help it)

England humiliated in Jamaica England slumped to a humiliating defeat by an innings and 23 runs after being skittled for 51 by West Indies on the fourth day of the first Test at Sabina Park in Jamaica. Jerome Taylor ripped the heart out of England, a superb spell of pace bowling earning figures of five for 11 while spinner Sulieman Benn took four for 31. Andrew Flintoff was the only batsman to make double figures, hitting 24 as the visitors were routed for their third lowest total. West Indies had not beaten England in their last 16 meetings going back to a victory at Edgbaston in 2000. After the home team were bowled out for 392 in their first innings, securing a lead of 74 runs, England slid to 11 for two at lunch with Alastair Cook and Ian Bell the men out. Taylor, watched by triple Olympic champion and 100 metres world record holder Usain Bolt of Jamaica, produced a 'Lightning Bolt' of his own by removing Kevin Pietersen for one with a classic delivery. The fast bowler produced late outswing to bowl Pietersen as he attempted to hit the ball through mid-wicket. Next to go was England captain Andrew Strauss, who edged another excellent delivery from Taylor to keeper Denesh Ramdin. With the crowd anticipating a famous victory, on-fire Taylor also bowled Paul Collingwood and Matt Prior to leave England reeling. Slow left armer Benn, who had earlier dismissed Bell, took his second wicket when Broad was caught by Xavier Marshall at short leg. Benn then trapped Ryan Sidebottom lbw before Flintoff, who had provided some sort of resistance, was clean bowled by Fidel Edwards. Spinner Benn, who also took four wickets in the first innings, finished England off when he bowled Steve Harmison to prompt wild celebrations from the Jamaican crowd. It was sweet revenge for West Indies, who were bowled out for 47 by England the last time the teams met at this venue and Strauss's men have plenty to think about ahead of next week's second Test in Antigua. discuss.

Got me thinking (thats a worry) when I was watching Tiger Woods putting to make a play off with Rocco a couple of days ago!!! Which sport or sportsperson has the most pressure thrust upon them!! ie The Tiger Example (there is alot of variations on that one as well) (I think you get the idea!!!? A baseball game bottom of the ninth bases loaded 2 strikes a homer will win The World Series the pitcher the batter or the umpire (to get the call right) who has the most pressure on them? (I think someone did this in the last 20yrs) Another Example) A football game a Penalty? Is it the person who takes the kick (to kick a goal) or the goalkeeper (to save it) who has the most pressure on them?!!! Team sports are hard because your teamates are relying on you!!! Cricket a six off the last ball to win the game!!!! (Depends on who is batting as well) There are plenty more examples!!!

now with the ashes humiliation behind them can England redeem themselves in the 1-day series ..... stop laughing all u Aussie fans. due to some underhand methods England now have in their possession the Aussie masterpland on how to bowl out England and win the 1-dayers. it's not quite as detailed as the English plan, but appears much more effective. how damaging will these leaked plans be to Aussie chances in this series. from TMS on the BBC ....
