now I see why mayweather is scurd of this guy...I'd be scurd too.WoW!!

His next scheduled event is singing at Lake Tahoe Nevada. With also being a Congressman, he has it pretty much all covered. He is simply amazing. He is starting a professional singing career for when he decides to retire from boxing.

Mayweather set to fight Pacquiao -

in court

Unbeaten US boxer Floyd Mayweather will fight Filipino star Manny Pacquiao after all, although it will be a legal dispute after a federal judge denied a motion to dismiss the case.

Unbeaten US boxer Floyd Mayweather, seen here, will fight Filipino star Manny Pacquiao after all, although it will be a legal dispute after a federal judge denied a motion to dismiss the case.

Pacquiao filed a defamation lawsuit against Mayweather, among others, that US District Judge Larry Hicks ruled can proceed because there is sufficient evidence of malicious acts in accusing Pacquiao of being a dope cheat.

"The truth did not stop Mayweather and the others," Pacquiao's lawsuit contends. "That is because they are motivated by ill will, spite, malice, revenge and envy."

"Mayweather and the others set out on a course designed to destroy Pacquiao's career, reputation, honor and legacy and jeopardize his ability to earn the highest levels of compensation."

Pacquiao has never tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) but in the 2009 lawsuit he claims that Mayweather, his father Floyd Snr and uncle Roger, promoter Oscar de la Hoya and his employee, Richard Schaefer conducted a campaign in a set of interviews to make people think he used them.

"Defendants argue that Pacquiao has failed to sufficiently allege malice because defendants could not have known one way or the other whether Pacquiao had actually taken PEDs when they made the alleged defamatory statements," Hicks wrote in the order upholding the lawsuit.

"However, the court finds that Pacquiao has sufficiently pled malice in the amended complaint."

Unbeaten Mayweather and Pacquiao were in talks to stage a megafight between two of boxing's biggest stars but negotiations collapsed over demands by Mayweather that both fighters have blood and urine tests up to 14 days before the bout.

Pacquiao said he would feel weakened by blood tests within 24 days of the fight and would not agree to tests any closer to a bout.

Mayweather Promotions attorney Mark Tratos said he would continue to push for dismissal of the case, saying comments at the time were made about Pacquiao's hesitancy regarding blood tests and did not claim he was a dope cheat.

Pacquiao attorney Dan Petrocelli said his client's career would suffer major damage if fans believed he used banned substances.

"Manny has an unblemished reputation and has earned all of his achievements through hard work and his natural-born talent and to call him a cheater is something he cannot and will not tolerate," Petrocelli said.

"None of these defendants have had any evidence to back up the assertion that he has taken performance-enhancing drugs because he didn't."

Mayweather, 34, faces an April 25 trial date on a battery charge over an altercation with a security guard for his homeowners association, who claims Mayweather poked him during a November argument regarding cars parking outside Mayweather's home.

Mayweather also faces a court hearing on April 28 on domestic violence charges that could send the fighter to prison for up to 34 years in prison if convicted of all charges, which include felony counts of grand larceny, coercion and robbery.

Mayweather is accused of striking and threatening former girlfriend Josie Harris, stealing her mobile phone and threatening two of their children in an incident on September 9.

Boxing fans have hoped that Mayweather, 41-0 with 25 career knockouts, would fight Pacquiao but Mayweather's legal woes have put such talk on hold.

Pacquiao, 52-3 with two draws and 38 knockouts and a winner of 13 fights in a row in the past six years, is set to face 39-year-old US fighter Shane Mosley, 46-6 with one draw and 39 knockouts, on May 7 in Las Vegas.

Mayweather declines $65 million offer to fight Pacquiao.

MANILA—Floyd Mayweather Jr. has turned down a $65 million offer to fight pound-for-pound king*Manny Pacquiao.

Top Rank*promoter Bob Arum*told the* Inquirer over the phone yesterday that the unprecedented offer was made by a Singapore group that handles special events and other projects for big casino complexes and other entities in the island state.

Arum said that Mayweather demanded $10 million even before he and the Singaporeans could discuss a possible Pacquiao fight.

“This guy (Mayweather Jr.) is totally out of his mind,” Arum said.

Arum said that the Singapore group flew to Los Angeles to negotiate. The Top Rank promoter added the group told him “they never experienced such craziness in their lives.”

Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz confirmed the meeting, saying:* “Mayweather wanted the $10 million up front before he would event talk to them.”

“There are no excuses this time, nobody to blame,” said Koncz. “He just doesn’t want to fight Manny.

Where are you going to get $65 million? Even after tax and everything it would come down to $30 or 40 million and that’s a lot of money.”

If this is true then as good as Mayweather is, he's bottling it.

No offense but that "If I was X years younger I would . . ." doesn't really work when you're threatening one of the best fighters in the world. Hey, who cares if Manny might be a better boxer. There are probably less than 10 people in the world (in his weight class) that can kick his ass. I'm pretty sure 50 years ago Merchant was not in such great condition he would last 10 minutes.

Mayweather should either be disqualified...

or this match is null in void..

but probably him being the champion it will not be challenged.

just sayin..

hmmmm .... Ortiz was the champion not Mayweather !! Ortiz could (should) have been disqualified for a blatant head butt !!

now i'm no Mayweather fan .... but while what he did may not have been very sporting it wasn't against any rules !!

just saying .... !!!!

it was the weirdest ending to a fight i can ever remember seeing .... i don't know what the **** Ortiz was thinking off !!!!

I have to agree what a bizarre ending..

Ortiz was a long shot to say the least.. He didn't stand a chance I believe he only got like 2.5 mill for the fight while Pretty boy Mayweather is gonna get like 45 mill.

Even though I like Ortiz and his boxing background story...

but, just as the title of this thread - Everyone wants to see Pac Man and Mayweather fight.. These scrub matches sux out loud!!

headbutting is nothing new to boxing.. not that I condone it or like to see it. Also hitting below the belt is also very common. In the old days boxers occasionally used to load their gloves etc. Fight fair right? But usually the fighter hides the headbutting better than Ortiz did.. If I can recall that is what Iron Mikes beef(no pun intended) was all about with Holyfield.. usually the ref either doesn't call it or gives the boxer a warning especially if it's blatantly done. Of course Tyson found the beef on Holyfields ear...LOL

Btw usually weak fighters use these tactics remember the Sony Liston and Ali fight. Youtube it if you have never seen it. Ali claims that Liston put balm on his glove and rubbed it on his eyes to blind him. Cassius Clay still whooped his azz tho.. Even with partial vision..

well headbutting isn't anything new, but when it's as blatant as Oritz it usually results in at least a 1 point deduction and can lead to disqualification !! especially if the other fighter is cut or badly hurt !! still Mayweather sorted it out in his own style !!

No I agree with you.. but modern boxing really needs to get its act together and start calling these things.. Or it will lose the small remaining market of fans that it has left.. these rules are what separates it from UFC and other contact types of fighting. The Fighters start fighting when the referee motions to continue. It was a bad ref. period he let the head butts slide and then didn't hold both of the boxers arms out and say ready begin fighting and step away. Boxing still has that distinguished kind of quality left to it.. No hitting below the belt.. No high kicks. No arm holds.. The boxer wins on sheer stamina, punch combination, strength and skill..

but then in again some fans like the controversy and will stick around for it... I agree with you Mayweather has proven many times he is a high quality boxer... but he needs to stop fighting chumps and step up to the plate when challenged. He and his camp only fought Ortiz because they had a high probability of beating the guy. And of course the payday.

At least old time boxing and these UFC contact sports have something in common when these fighters get challenged at least they step up to the plate and fight each other and not come up with excuse after excuse why not to fight.
