Admin_2
Does anyone know how to tether the iPhone4's internet to a Mac without jailbreaking the phone? TF just got blocked here along with Facebook and YouTube...

admin
Is it illegal in Thailand to use a proxy server if the intent is not to bypass government banned sites but to access sites that you are not allowed to access on an internal network? Not really sure about that, but I doubt you'd get in trouble for checking out legal sites through a proxy. Speaking of which, the proxies that I used to use are now blocked in Thailand or blocked at work. Does anyone know of some "underground" proxies? funky_house
Rob. Don't you have an old phone lying around that you can use to connect for now? Or has Yoma chewed them all up?

I do, but that's almost a last case scenario. Hopefully I can get my TF back soon...this annoys me.
narak_mai
I *think* it's a setting (settings/general/network) that is displayed (or not) depending on the info, or carrier file, your operator sends to your phone. I'm pretty sure mine was tetherable pre-JB on DTAC.

admin
I found a method that might work (it works for me). Get some CAT5 networking cable (preferably blue) and wrap it around your iPhone exactly 5 times. Any more than 5 and you'll download stuff to fast. Any less than 5 and you won't be able to view porn at work without some buffering problems. Then plug one end of the CAT5 into your ethernet connection on your laptop. It might take awhile for you get your credentials logged in but if you just keep trying how tightly you wind the cable around your iPhone it'll eventually work. Guaranteed. funky_house
Or buy an HTC Desire. I have one as my Thai phone, and use tethering when I go to some of those little islands.

funky_house
I was in the Apple store this a.m., and asked about this. You can tether a non-jailbroken iPhone. it just depends on whether your service provider allows it or not. Settings>General>Network>Internet Tethering. You can tether a non-jailbroken iPhone. it just depends on whether your service provider allows it or not. Settings>General>Network>Internet Tethering. It works. Thank you a million times. The messed up part about this is that I went to one of the heads of my school on Friday about this. He said it couldn't get changed. I told them that it was necessary or that I would have to quit (they also blocked my poker affiliate sites). We went through all this crap with two more meetings that day...all in all, I basically gave a one month notice that I was quitting and donating my final month's salary to get more computers for the school (yes, I can actually be a nice guy). Honestly, I love the school and love the job. They allow me to work part-time, and everyone there is great. I just didn't like the idea of running to a cafe to go and work when I didn't have a class. On top of that, I explained to them that I have other jobs that I would tend to during their work hours...they agreed and then were giving me that mai pben rai crap all day on friday. It sounds kind of Thai soap opera dramatic, but you probably just saved a job that I love. Beers are on me sometime after the 4th.
