PiAnt
Sometimes I wonder just what some people are thinking when they get themselves some technology! I'm sure at least half of them are buying it just to look like a posh **** in public. No. 1 on the list of pretentious technology has to be: THE BLUETOOTH EARPIECE No. 2 THE iPHONE No. 3 THE PAD COMPUTER Edited February 21, 2011 by PiAnt
admin
I'm 2 for 3.
Admin_2
I'm 1 for 3. The iphone is ****ing amazing...life changing if you will. It's now soooo easy to look pretentious in public whereas before I had to fake phonecalls with "important people." Now with the iPhone, I *am* the important person. Next up, bluetooth earpiece. The ipad is just too homo for me.
Chatty
I'm 1 for 3. The iphone is ****ing amazing...life changing if you will. It's now soooo easy to look pretentious in public whereas before I had to fake phonecalls with "important people." Now with the iPhone, I *am* the important person. Next up, bluetooth earpiece. The ipad is just too homo for me. My friends told me the same way about iPhone. It was quite interesting, but after I have seen how they use I phone, and BB also... I think hell no. Some ppl who use iPhone is annoying, they forget way to communicate with other ppl who surrounding them. Sometimes I wanna say if you are with that machine may be i should leave you with it. May be they just don't care if I'm there or not. Put your technology down you might see another view of this world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17ZrK2NryuQ
English_Bob
I've got an iphone. I use it instead of interracting with real people as they mostly annoy me. I also have a Glock for the same reason. Is that technology? It's got a laser sight.
funky_house
Have a look at this video for the new iPad 2: http://www.apple.com/uk/ipad/#video
Admin_2
Have a look at this video for the new iPad 2:http://www.apple.com/uk/ipad/#video Looks pretty cool. I still don't see myself getting one, though...Outside of the cool factor, it's still just a big iPhone with fewer abilities than a Macbook. It seems like the second version is just trying to make it more like the iPhone. By the way...Skype now has video chat capabilities for iPhone on wifi AND 3G. Bye bye facetime (even though I never really used it).
admin
Looks pretty cool. I still don't see myself getting one, though...Outside of the cool factor, it's still just a big iPhone with fewer abilities than a Macbook. You mean besides the price ($499 iPad vs $2000+ MacBook Pro), weight (1.33 pounds (601 g) iPad vs 5.6 pounds (2.54 kg) MacBook Pro)? The two aren't really competitive products so to compare them at all is . . . I'm so wanting to make an apples to oranges comment here. I had/have a MacBook Pro and MacBook and I know how heavy they are. The battery alone weighs more than my entire iPad. So I actually use my iPad more than I ever used my MacBooks (outside of my home) because I'm more willing to just toss it in my bag. It's extra weight is barely even felt. That means as per it's mobile design, the iPad gets brings far more value than any of my notebooks ever did. Sure, if you are going to sit in an office all day and have your laptop on your desk (like I used to when I was back home) you sort of get used to it since without lugging your computer back and forth you would either have one at home or one at work but not both. However, if you you're like me and you have a PC at home and you're running out for errands and you have a choice of lugging your Macbook around with you all day in the off chance you might grab a bite to eat and you want to check some emails, maybe read a chapter out of the book you've been reading, etc you'll probably skip on that because it's heavy and cumbersome. But with an iPad my iPad is smaller and lighter than my Thai language school book so I just throw it in the bag and go. An iPad is not a notebook or PC replacement. It's a mobile device. It's the most basic of mobile devices but hits a very nice sweet spot for people who already have a computer of some sorts (PC or notebook) but really are looking for something that they can take on the go with them without feeling like they're lugging around a small barbell. With that said, I wouldn't upgrade from the iPad 1 to the iPad 2. Both the iPad 1 to iPad 2 and the iPhone 3GS to iPhone 4 upgrades seem rather pointless, IMHO. You don't get enough extra stuff to warrant the price differential.

It's a pretentious piece of crap, just *admin* it!

funky_house
I was sitting by a hotel pool the other day, and saw quite a few children, some probably around four years old, engrossed in whatever it was they were doing on iPads. It seems like the parents have found something new to keep the kids quiet.

CiaranM
What would life be without a computer? Pretty boring. LOL from a personal and work point of view i can't imagine life without a computer. however, can't (or don't want to) buy into the concept of the IPhone and/or IPad. i reckon i spend too much time sat in front of a computer already and don't want to spend my time when socialising browsing online or reading a book using my IPad. i realise that staying in contact 24/7 is now the "in thing" ... but i want some time away from the cyber world !!!! although i heard rumours u may be able to have naked webcam chat with the IPad 2 .... so this opinion is not written in stone !!
