ai and ee

Could somebody explain?

I believe that ee and ai are perjuratives and at one time were used as a way to address slaves and inferiors..I know they have a male and female form...but forget which is which

Now I hear them being used either in fun with close friends or sometimes as

an intended insult.

what I want to know is what is the difference (if there is one) between the use

of ai Bah instead of just bah

Or others

ee ngo , ee katoey, etc

does the use of the prefix give a different meaning or invoke a stronger feeling..

Help would be greatly appreciated...I'm not usually interested in learning vulgar/offensive words in Thai (English has enough) but I hear these often and need to know how to react...

ai & ee.... can be used to call your very very very close friends... in some case, they are considered as a very frank & sincere way of calling your true friend.

ai & ee.... are NOT considered as -appropriate- for general speaking.

Then again, it all depends on who is using them.... and whats the intention of using them.
