Top 10 Most Listened CDs This Past Month

We had a Top 10 guitarists thread and I think the girls felt left out. So how about listing the CDs you listened to a LOT during the past month? This is NOT your favorite all time CD list but a snapshot of your current taste in music. Mine has changed considerably during the past 5 years!!

In no order of preference:

Zero 7 - Simple Things (soul/jazz/downtempo/chillout); every track is solid, a real treat!

Afterlife - Simplicity Y2K (chillout); superb production and great to chill out to.

Air - Talkie Walkie (pop/chillout); surprisingly good, like audio candy.

Massive Attack - Mezzanine (trip hop); MA and Portishead started it all. Dark, menacing and very groovy.

Delerium - Karma (trip hop/ambient/world); I prefer this over Poem because of Sarah McLaughlin's cameo on Silence.

Dead Can Dance - Within the Realm of a Dying Sun (goth/world/orchestral); simply spectacular music with Lisa Gerrard's siren voice.

Bel Canto - Shimmering Warm and Bright (ambient/trip pop); this Norwegian duo's mature songwriting and high production values offers a great listen.

Lamb - Lamb (trip hop); neat mix of drum n bass, trip hop, acoustic instruments; Gorecki gets to me every time.

Buddha Bar I (world/lounge/downtempo/trance); Claude Challe's nattsy collection, CD 1 is more downtempo, CD2 is dance tracks; great fun!

Balligomingo - Beneath the Surface (pop); I'm a sucker for lush female voices and this one does it for me with style.

2 Black Sabbath: Paranoid (one or two time every month)

Ricsenro, this is primal stuff, one of my favorites!! That album and Master of Reality turned me into a Tony Iommi fan.

5 Madredeus (portuguese new age group, very, very advisable):Um amor infinito

Ah, a new release! I only have Ainda but the title track knocks me off my feet each time I hear it. Teresa Salgueiro's voice is the sweetest, most heartfelt I've ever heard.

awesome stuff!

perhaps not the right tone of voice for the music in question but schiff ROCKS on bach. my fav bach player, and really one of the things that made me give classical music a chance after being force fed vivaldi and pachelbel to the point of vomiting by my mom.

steve reich is awesome, my fav minimalist. and you'd think college radio listeners would be used to weirdness, but i played "it's gonna rain" on the radio and made 'em sweat. great for anyone who has heard philip glass and decided minimalism is wussy and boring.

2. Bach - English Suites, played by Andras Schiff. More piano

3. Reich Remixed - Reich's once fringe music re-mixed by DJs

4. Steve Reich - Music for 18 musicians. Like trance? Try this.

Yeah, it's all pretty old stuff, but then music is eternal and I get the new stuff when I go out. 8)

it's what i've been listening to recently .... i like most of it, but thought noel gallagher's high flying birds was very average and i reckon neon bible is a much better album than suburbs. living and working in asia for the last 15 years hasn't been easy to keep up with what's "happening" in the music scene these days !!
