I would appreciate though if you'd stop patronizing me. I've been online for a long time already and have learned the lessons along the way. Not meaning to imply any sort of leverage or superiority but you might take in account that someone who is new here might nevertheless not be a dipshit prick with no comprehension of what transpires on a forum like this.

i work based on what solely based on what you post.

seems to me launching into psychoanalysis based on overrwrought hyperdigestion of the tone of a message earns a patronizing response. also you might consider whether your own tone is at times patronizing, or at least whether a reader might take it as such.

to sum up my general attitude toward posting :

if someone addresses a post to me, i respond to what they post. i DO NOT CARE about their net resume, their life outside of the internet, etc. the ONLY thing that affects my response outside of the post is their body of work as a poster.

your post came off as naive and paternalistic because you made ham-handed generalizations about my personality based on my posts, so i felt comfortable patronizing you in return. after all there's no laugh quite so enjoyable as one at someone else's expense.

Yep, I'm not trying to impose any restrictions on what you can or cannot say. I'm not in a position to say that to anyone and even if I was, this would not be the way to do it. I'm merely disagreeing with you and I do enjoy differing views.

I think that we basically mean the same thing, though we seem to have a somewhat different way to express it. I think your comments are mostly both entertaining and witty, both which I respect and appreciate. With some I might not agree and if so, I will say it. I don't take your comments personally.

This is just a discussion forum and most members don't know eachother personally. Hence, as you said yourself too, stakes are low. That tends to have the less welcome effect of people easily saying things they would not say if face2face in real life.

i know what you mean, after watching "lawyers" and "gangsters" make threaten someone on another site. if you knew me in real life you would find there isn't much difference in what i'm willng to say in real life vs online, if anything i may say more obnoxious things in person. i think the several dozen people i have met face to face are unlikely to contradict that. however, face to face there is more 'bandwidth'--you have a better gauge of a person's intent through things like body language, tone of voice, etc. and since nobody's tried to punch me in the face yet, i think it's been working well enough.

Interesting concept. I usually judge it by the burning pain from my nose the taste of my own blood and those pretty white star things that you can't quite focus on before they move.

Am I doing something wrong? Usually gives me quite a clear indication of how well my comments have been received.
