I like to cook, its one of my hobbies. I am looking for a certain spice, in english called - nutmeg - in german Musskatnuss.

I looked into some thai dictionary but couldt not find the thai word for.

I think this spice is not used in the thai cuisine. But maybe someone can help me and tell me the thaiword and where i can get that spice.

Thanks

Nutmeg is fanTASTIC.

The obvious dish it goes with (being from the UK) is Apple pie / crumble *drool*

But, it can be great with so many other things also. Have you ever tried a sprinkle on beef lasagne during the final browning off stages in the oven?

Also - it really adds taste to a good old Mexican Chilli!!

slightly off topic... but if anyone is interested in the history of nutmeg, which was once only found on a tiny island called Rune, near Timor, then i would recommend a fantastic book called 'Nathaniel's Nutmeg'. It's a well-written account of the times at the hieight of the British and Dutch East India companys' race to secure a monopoly and supply of nutmeg, which was then worth more than the price of gold.
