The Mekhong catfish is, I believe, the largest known freshwater fish in the world - Mekhong fish have been caught weighing over 300kgs. This catfish farm is in fact about a 6 acre lake (pond) packed with over 50 varieties of catfish. The 'lake' claims to have set several world records for fish over the past few years. Certainly fish well over 100kgs have been caught in the lake and I was told that there are at 150 fish weighing over 50kgs each in the lake. I am not really a fisherman but I took my brother there about 2 months ago. All rods, tackle, bait and instruction can be hired there for a reasonable fee - I think about 5 hours fishing cost around Bt2000/head. (Serious fisherman should bring their own kit as the farm's rods are set with about 25lb line ( meaning you cant catch the really big ones). Anyway, we fished from about 2pm to 6pm. We caught about 10 fish of which 6 were in the 7-10kg range (still a big fish by UK standards), 3 in the 15-20kg range and one which weighed a little over 40kg. That fish alone took 2 of us well over an hour to reel in. (Of course the really big ones just broke our tackle and got away!!) It is all very civilised - you can rent your own hut for a few hundred baht. You could also act as a tourist and re-discover BKK. Visit the world famous spa's... and Grand palace... Sukhumvit 62 and ?Cobra? Ramintra. These fields are great. They have a lot of good stuff and many ppl plays on weekend. If anyone bored of party and after party (just to get head f**k). Let?s get together and play!! Wakeboarding, ?Taco Lake?. The lake is setup with cables going around it, which pull you at a decent speed. You will get a totally different atmosphere while on the lake. The people are very relaxed. I never try it yet? I just hang around and bring my books to read? zeusbheld Posted February 27, 2005 Report Share Posted February 27, 2005 agree with andy on the thai massage... it's sort of like forced yoga, it can be a bit strenuous but you feel real good later. i dont like oil massage... if i end up in bkk i'll probably rent or share some studio space and go back to making big charcoal drawings like i used to a century or two ago... maybe you could give that a go, you could even use paint.. doesnt *have* to be charcoal...
