Question

Everybody has one complaint these days : It is too hot!! The moment you step out of your air-conditioned office or car, you find yourself sweating profusely even it is early in the morning. So I would like to ask TF members how do they survive these summer months? How do you beat the heat and stay cool?

Last night I brought out two shirts...completely soaked the first one and was really happy to put the second one on...felt niiiiice.

hey ive dont this like 3 times now

first time the shirt was so wrinkled and i hate that cause im a wrinkle freak if there a wrinkle

the second time it was great to get out of one shirt and into a nonswetty one but i still wet that one up too and made it smell like a bar/ciggerets/and beer

3rd time was a charm, no wrinkles, and when the 1st shirt was wet or sticky from the air enuff

i just went to 7 and bought one of those traveler towels things for 20 baht

ya know, that big freezing cold good smelling towel and used that before i switched shirts

worked out lovely

sometimes i just live off those towels on hot nights when i walk alot, other times i try not to drink water cause it makes me feel hotter and swet more, so i walk slower n drink puriku tea

my remedy for avoiding the heat on Samui was to stay in bed with aircon on till around 3 or 4pm, get up, have fruit shake then sit in pool for an hour!!!

Nights were a nightmare; the bar on Samui used to get really really hot, especially when full.

Backyard on Pha Ngan wasn't too bad as it was open air, on top of a hill and situated in a lot of shade during day, and if on Haad Riin at night used to just jump in the sea for a cool down!!!

I always used to keep a towel, couple of spare t shirts and a large bucket of ice behind the decks though, on Samui and Pha Ngan!!!

:)

Cold showers don't really cut it...out here, you can't even get a cold shower because the shower water is pretty warm as is.

The simple act of drying off makes you start sweating again...or I don't dry off and just sit in front of the fan and have that dry me off for a while!

AC is a must sometimes...

I always walk slowly, keep my heart beat slow.Never drink too much water before i face the heat. Also if i walked for a while i do not drink right after i stop, always wait a while to cool down because if you drink when your heart beat is higher than usual it turns to sweat quickly.

I also wash my t shirt at night and wear it while its still slightly wet.I gain decent 30 mins by doing that.

I often make pit stops at 7/11 s and hang out like 5 10 mins in there, enjoy the AC, cool down and dry a bit before i face the heat.

Also if you can try not to think about sweating, its also psychological.Worrying about sweating only sweats you more.
