Very wierd and WTH is "animal language"?

Siberian child 'raised by dogs'

Russian officials have taken a five-year-old Siberian girl into care, saying that she had apparently been "brought up" by cats and dogs. The girl, who is unable to speak, was discovered living in a squalid flat in the Siberian city of Chita.

Police said she had never been allowed outside and had adopted the behaviour of the animals she lived with. They said she now "barked like a little dog" and jumped at the door when her carers left the room.

Police are questioning the girl's mother, but her father has not yet been found. A police statement said the girl was unwashed, dressed in filthy clothes and had the "clear attributes of an animal".

"For five years, the girl was 'brought up' by several dogs and cats and had never been outside," the statement said. The police said the girl had managed to master "animal language only", but seemed able to understand Russian.

Read that news from BBC the other day and I was wondering, why did they not mention any name, at least the girl?s name? and where is a picture? Perhaps BBC starts writing news the same way as The Sun.

Anyway, that?s wired but that wasn?t the first case. I?ve seen a documentary some years ago about a teenage girl from Russia (or Ukraine, can?t remember) who has been brought up by dogs and she ends up in physiatrist hospital and has turns to be a study object for some scientists and physiatrists. I think she was happier when she was living with dogs.

"A sting operation that has been in the planning for some months was finally put into operation this afternoon, 27 May 2009, in Nong Yai. The sting operation caught a drugs-ring in the process of smoking ganja and made several arrests, including the ringleader, an 80-year-old grandmother, who the police had been after for some time.

Pol. Col. Somneuk Junket, Banglamung police superintendent and his team descended upon a shop with no name or number, located in the Nongyai area of Soi Golf Course, Pattaya, at 1.00 pm, 27 May, after being told by their spies that a drugs-ring was present. The shop had been being used as a drug sales and distribution centre, operating under the guise of a shop selling household items.

The police sting operation had used a marked 100 baht banknote to buy 2 small bags of dried ganja (marijuana) from Mr. Song Pingwong [22]. When Mr. Song handed the marijuana to the undercover police officer, he was immediately arrested. Police then conducted a search of the back of the shop and found Mrs. Meuan Boonmun, [80], the shop owner, and a group of people smoking ganja. The group were identified as Mr. Saichon Dangyam, [32], Mr. Apichai Wong-in [30], Mr. Komon Boonmun [56], Mr. Narongwit Anuchit,[30], Mr. Bundit Tongtab,[30], Mr. Sanya Noonoi,[41] and Mrs. Goong Pingwong, [47]. They were all under the influence of the drug. Police then searched a wardrobe and found 2 kilos of dried marijuana and some already packaged in a total of 100 plastic bags. Police took all the items as evidence, included the consuming equipment, to the Banglamung police station.

Police then questioned Mrs. Meuan, who confessed that she had been arrested previously and put in jail, but had been free for about two years. She had come out of prison and immediately began her drug supplying operation to many dealers in the area. She said Mr. Song was working for her. She admitted to buying one kilo of marijuana for 14,000 baht a time and had conducted her business until she became rich, comparatively speaking, for a Thai.

Pol. Lt. Kamon Taweesri told press that their sting operation had been in the planning stage for some time with the intent of arresting the old woman. Their spy had apparently bought from her on many occasions, until he had wormed his way into her confidence.

Mrs. Meuan was charged with the possession and sale of narcotics type 5 [Marijuana] and her network will be further investigated."

CAIRO?A 25-year-old Egyptian man cut off his own penis to spite his family after he was refused permission to marry a girl from a lower class family, police reported Sunday.

After unsuccessfully petitioning his father for two years to marry the girl, the man heated up a knife and sliced off his reproductive organ, said a police official.

The young man came from a prominent family in the southern Egyptian province of Qena, one of Egypt's poorest and most conservative areas that is also home to the famed ancient Egyptian ruins of Luxor.

The man was rushed to the hospital but doctors were unable to reattach the severed member, the official added citing the police report filed after the incident.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak with the press, added that the man was still recovering in the hospital.

Traditionally, marriages in these conservative part of southern Egypt are between similar social classes and often within the same extended families -- and are rarely for love.

Worse will be for his dad realising that the family name has been 'severed' and that the family is now the laughing stock of Egypt.

The boy is better off dead given the cultural shame most peers will think he has inflicted upon the family. Poor guy.

"Housing prices may be down, but the cost of a coveted parking space is not.

Today, a buyer paid $300,000 for a private parking space in Boston's Back Bay section, making it the most expensive parking space in the city's history, according to Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.

Debra Sordillo, the Coldwell sales agent who brokered the deal, said several residents at 48 Commonwealth Ave. engaged in a bidding war for the space, driving the original asking price of $250,000 up to the record-breaking $300,000. The winning bidder did not want to be identified, she said.

Though the price is more than what many people pay for a house, Sordillo said prime parking spaces in a neighborhood just a block from the Public Garden are in short supply.

"There's only so many parking spaces in the city," said Sordillo. "And in this part, there's very few."

The owners of the parking space live in the six-unit building, which is also up for sale. The people who own the space are also trying to sell a posh two-bedroom suite with direct elevator access for $2.5 million. It includes a space in the building's underground parking garage.

The $300,000 parking space came with few amenities other than its location -- it is outdoors and uncovered.

The previous record was set in 2007, when another buyer paid $250,000 for a nearby parking space behind 31-33 Commonwealth Ave."

Man who had ear cut off had it stitched to stomach to save it

A man who had one of his ears cut off when he was attacked in a park had it stitched to his stomach in a bid to save it.

Paul Gibbs, a student from Leeds, was attacked by three men as he camped out with a group of friends last year.

Because the ear was not found for 17 hours, surgeons could not immediately reattach it.

Instead, doctors stitched it inside his stomach so some of the tissue will re-grow. The plan is to then reconstruct the ear using some of the cartilage from 26-year-old Mr Gibbs's ribcage.

He told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "It's just a question of waiting for the operation.

"It is going to hurt but I want it done.

"But I'm strong-minded and feel like I am making good progress."

Mr Gibbs was attacked in Rothwell Country Park, near Leeds, in August last year when he and a group of friends were camping out.

He suffered brain damage when he was hit over the head with a motorbike helmet before his left ear was sliced off.

Mr Gibbs was left in a coma following the incident. Specialists in Liverpool are behind Mr Gibbs's ear procedure.

Last week two 18-year-olds and a 22-year-old were convicted of attacking Mr Gibbs. They were each given indeterminate prison sentences with the younger men ordered to serve a minimum of two years and 210 days and the 22-year-old was told he must serve at least four-and-half years.

That is the only interesting thing about sports, watching what the idiots do.

Something stupid is bound to happen when you get that many stupid people together in the same place at the same time

Not a WTF, not really weird but funny.....

'Butt naked' Aussie falls asleep in wrong room August 10, 2009

A woman hid in her hotel bathroom after a drunk, naked Australian wandered into a couple's room in the New Zealand town of Queenstown and fell asleep on their bed.

Police sergeant Steve Watt said a 29-year-old Australian man was escorted home by police in a dressing gown on Saturday morning after being woken by the hotel concierge.

"He was a bit surprised that there were two people in his room and he was butt naked," Mr Watt said.

The man told police he been brought back to the hotel from town by a woman but at some point wandered out of her room into the hall stark naked.

He then wandered into another room, occupied by a husband and wife, had curled up and gone to sleep, he said.

The couple had informed the hotel with the wife hiding in the bathroom while waiting for staff to arrive. The man was not charged, Mr Watt said. "It was far too funny."
