So, I have been living and working in Lille, France for 3.5 months now, and I left Thailand 5 months ago now.
I miss my friends, miss the general people and of course the food and way of life there. However, I don't miss the endless mess that is politics in Thailand or the stresses of running a business there.
The sun has been shining here all weekend and we even had temperatures of 20 degrees yesterday. A really beautiful weekend!!! If Spring and Summer is like this, I will love it, but
After 6 yrs, it is time to leave Thailand. Told me now ex boss to shove his job, and have pretty much finalised negotiating a new job which will see me leaving Thailand and moving to France. Will no doubt be back, as a tourist, and although some things I will really not miss (corrupt a**hole police - i been stopped 4 times in the last 2 months for NOTHING) - there are obviously things that I will miss an awful lot. These are mostly people, but some other less important things. Take care guys n g

Howdy one and all. Well, after a spectacularly busy and fun-free year in 2007 I am dropping down to Phuket with my family 22-29 December. Stay in a Grand Pool Villa in Kata and CANT WAIT.
Gonna hire a car, play some golf. Just wondering - anything I 'SHOULD NOT MISS' to do it Phuket? Was there 3 yrs ago but now the lil baby I had then is a near-5-year old that loves to be active. Did Phuket Fantasea - probably do it again as he will be a bit more alert!! Also - any recommendations for a good o

Mr Steve MacClaren will be pretty friggin relieved!!! As for the Italians - lucky B@st@rds!! Never was that a damn free-kick and the Scots were so unlucky!!!! Drunk and tired!!

well, i just had a huge row with a 'friend' i used to be 'involved' with in some way. at one point i was doing well, had a bit of spare cash at the same time that she had some problems. i offered to give her 30,000 baht but she refused POINT BLANK. we were not officially 'together' so she would repay me within 6 months in full. i agreed to this. well, that was 9 months ago. we have since stopped getting along so well and i just mentioned to her if she can start to re-pay that cash bit-by-bit and
Hey!! Anyone know of any decent costume hire/fancy dress places in Bangkok? I had a look on the Yellow Pages website - waste of space actually!! I have to get 7 costumes - preferably super-heros. We have an annual golf game - ANZACS vs REST OF THE WORLD and each year we think up new ways to humiliate the new-comers to the event. This year involves a round of warm up golf in a super hero/ super heroine dress. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!
Cheers

Well, the first time I watched 'Click' - the remote control of life film with Adam Sandler, Kate Beckinsdale, Christopher Walken etc..etc.. - I was in the bar for a few swift ones before. It had me in tears! Just seen it again on HBO for the first time sober. Not a drop of alcohol and it had me in tears AGAIN!!!! Anyone else seen it? Get upset? Or am I just turning into a whimp in my old age??? CheersPuffy-eyed Matt (in Dongguan, China)
I guess it is part of expat life, or is it just me. I been here nearly 4 years, been coming here since 98. I loved the place, loved the people, loved the food, the culture. Over the past 4 years my attitudes have remained mostly the same, although there are such HUGE frustrations about this place that piss me off ROYALLY, I have to say. Sick of the traffic - easy to solve, or at least improve but does anyone listen? Mate of mine had a letter published in BKK Post on ways to improve this and actu
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have some of that!!!!! Who knocked the frogs out? WHO? WHO? WHO? WHO? or is it 'Who let the dogs out?'? - Not tonight it isn't!!
Swing lowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww sweet chariot! Coming forth to carry me hommmmmme!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy it while we can!!! Next up probably the Boks!!! Then again, we weren't supposed to win tonight according to the 'experts' and Aussies were supposed to batter us!!! Come on you Argies!!! Shock the World and batter the Boks.
Gonna go
Come on then Aussies..... stop crying in your Castelmaine 4X and Fosters!!! The pub I was in had a fair share of Aussies, very vocal and very confident and also very quick to disappear within seconds of the finish. Bad losers!!! But, not about them. They'll be enjoying the crappy service of Qantas this evening!!!! Roundly beaten in the scrum. You could tell they felt that they couldn't compete in the scrum when fat-boy Dunning decided to push Regan in the face. End of the day, bye bye Ozzies. Be
....someone told you that you are sexy??? For me it was 6.30pm THIS VERY EVENING!!!! - I came home from work (jacket and tie day today) and Kieran, my lil boy, said to me "Wow Daddy, you look like a handsome prince you know. You are a sexy boy" Hey, maybe it came from a 4.5 yr old boy that also happens to be my son, but I'll take it!! Ha ha ha!! Bed time...... Enjoy!!
No particular reason. Couple of thing bugging my head this past 24 hours, but I think I got out of bed the wrong side this morning and I feel in a really crappy mood. Think I will lock myself away in my office later. Not going to bother fighting the traffic this morning, would prefer to go in at a more gentle pace mid-morning. Might get back into bed and see if I can wake up feeling happier and more positive in an hour or so!!!
Today 3pm. I have an interview in Central World Offices. Nervous actually!! Nervous about the interview, although they approached me, and not vice-versa and also nervous that, if I get it, how the hell do I tell my boss? He has been really good to me and has my total trust and I have his. Shouldn't think too much about this, but can't help it.
Anyway, better do a bit of preparation during my lunch break!! Wish me luck!!!! Matt
Hey guys n gals!! Follow these simple guidelines and life won't be TOO bad!!!1. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative
on the same night.
2. Don't worry about what people think; they don't do it very often.
3. Going to church doesn't make you a Christian anymore than
standing in a garage makes you a car.
4. Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.
5. Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious.

Here I am! Back in Indo. Actually in Bandung now, but back to Jakarta for a night tomorrow.
Friday night in Jakarta. Brings some memories back from 2000-1 when I lived here.
Bandung is a pretty beautiful place actually. Big town, quite attractive and as I look out of the window of the hotel I can see hills in the distance. Makes a change to see any kind of land other than the flat-ness of Bangkok! Miss this place actually. Smiley and happy people, not to mention the occasional hot
Well, been here a few days and the weather has been fantastic. A bit cooler today but it has been really fantastic!! Beautiful blue skies, sunshine and around 15 - 17 degrees. In the countryside here in the Vale Of Evesham and no pollution at all.
No massive traffic jams, cretin buses, taxis, motorbikes. Its lovely!! Occasional tractor or combined harvester or cows!!
Ha ha.
What a real difference from Bangkok. Chilling out over here. So much better than running around, travelling 70% - airpor
Hiya folksWell, i have been REALLY inactive on TF this past month. Not from choice, I have been worked off my bloody socks!!! After my time in India I was here for 2 days and off to USA for just over 2 weeks of solid work work work. Didn't even have time to call anyone from TF USA branch for beers because I had to work the weekend and then leave to Oregon.Anyhow, now back in Bangkok. The 30 hour door-to-door journey from Heathman Hotel Portland to my house Bang Na via LAX was a long one and the

Just turned on my PC and took at look at TF and it seems that I have SMASHED through the 2,000 votes mark...... i think that the award of one Cafe Latte grande (take away or 'drink here') at any Starbucks (so long as it is in Ekkamai - which kind of narrows it down to 1) could go to any of the last 7 voters....... who cast the 2,000th??? Ha ha ha....can see you all lining up for a Starbucks!!Cheers all.......Stay safe....back to BKK Monday!!PS - did it warm up again yet?

My post was: Grezzy - I am neither mad nor stupid. i am based here, travel 75% of my time, so i am arriving or departing this airport at least 4-6 times per month. i lived in Hong Kong, am fully aware of their airport issues and size, however they do have the underground rail link, plus travelators.
