hello everyone, i got my  new passport today because i had only one year left on my old one, and seeing as though im coming to Bangkok soon for a year or more, i thought it wise to get a new one now instead of trying to get it when i was living in thailand from the embassy.the point is what i got back was a very different passport to my old one.this one has a micro chip and a circular antenna on the back of the  picture and details page.according to the leaflet this stores all the info on it so your passport cant be forged. the old bar code is missing too.i wanted to know is there anyone else with this new passport, and is there any foreign countries issueing these either? 

I HONESTLY THOUGHT I HAD SPELT IT WRONG BUT MY BRAINS NOT WORKING TODAY......LOL

Finland started issuing them at the start of August or September. Those RFID Passports.

Ive sent off for my new one today as mine expires in February and i'm off to Amsterdam next month.

The deadline for the old style is 15 October here in the Channel Island and they are £15 cheaper than these new ones they will be introducing so i made sure i beat the deadline

Australia commenced issuing them 2 years ago. Just be careful some wanker doesnt stamp the page with the micro chip. Have a great time here.

We have already them for several years. U need them for instance to go to the states within a few years. If you don't have a new one u have to apply for a visa (? 100 cost).
