Love poem

Today, something a little different. Read this...it is about love.

"Love consists in sharing

what one has

and what one is

with those one loves.

Love ought to show itself in deeds

more than in words."

It's really not bad.......and it says quite a lot in very few words. Now here is the interesting thing. The writer is Saint Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Jesuit sect in the 16th century. He was writing about God. Yet if you read the words you can see that it applies to every aspect of love. It suggests that love, true love, is less physical more metaphysical.

Now.......what is also interesting is how I came across it. I am catholic but not at all religious. But recently I was sent a prayer book by my old school in England. I ignored it....not interested. One evening I was feeling very bluesy...hope u know what I mean. Getting over a love affair, feeling sorry for myself...blah blah.

I opened the prayer book and found 2 prayers. The first you see above. The 2nd I will post tomorrow...equally good by the way. And I have to say that it uplifted me and kind of gave me hope. A religious experience? Well I doubt it....I am really not religious! But I was honestly moved and went away feeling rather hopeful about life.

I also saw a lot of myself...great on words, needs work on deeds! next time, next time!

Also, I was reminded for the first time in a long time how powerful poetry can be.

Enjoy your day.
