I wonder sometimes if love is a fantasy. We spend most of our lives looking for love (and believe me it is no different whether you are 18 or 50...it should be but it isn't!). We spend a lot of our lives miserable about love...whether because we have been let down or whatever. Few of us are often happy in love, yet few of us can survive without love. I sometimes wonder whether to tak a pill and turn the love gene off But someone said something to me that was very interesting and very wise. She said that love is a state of mind. Yes, there is sex and passion and friendship and so on. But ultimately it is a state of mind because we tend to be better people when we are in love. You know, it's true. We are better when we are in love. We smile more. We are more considerate...not just of our love but the world in general. We do better work. We are positive. We are just better. Now love can also be destructive...I have had friends whose lives were destroyed by the ending of a love affair. And sometimes I do wonder whether it would be better to not love and not risk failure and pain. But we are better when we love......so I will not take the pill to disable the love gene. I will take the risk. I will accept the pain. Because in love I am a better person.
