Yes, I can see it and yeah, she's cute.

A few years ago I visited Mae Hong Son with a friend and we visited a Karen long-necked tribal village and it was really interesting! I speak Thai and it was really great to be able to have a conversation with some of the young people who can speak Thai well.

There was a school at that village and there was a class in progress while we were there. The kids were having an English exam and we talked with the teacher who was a 29 year-old Karen (not long necked) and spoke English quite well. My friend, who is a teacher in the USA, asked her how much she made as a teacher there and the answer was shocking! 500 baht per month, on which she supports herself AND her mother and father! It's really hard to imagine!

Of course the tourists that came to that village were a major source of income for them and for that reason very wewlcome. No one asked for money, just that we have a look and buy some handicrafts.

An experience like that makes those of us who live in bkk, or overseas, wonder how the rest of the world can live on so little money...and yet still be happy!
