SILLY FOOLS
We attended the free Silly Fools concert at the Surin City Hall Saturday night. It was friggin great! Excellent. Seeing Silly Fools has been on my "To Do list" for 4 years and I finally got yo see them! My only complaint is that Toh (the lead singer) didn't move around very much. In fact, the entire band pretty much just stood still for an hour and 30 minutes as they churned out their hits. It reminded of Oasis in that sense- but of course Silly Fools is much better than Oasis. I really wanted to hear Ban-thai (Her Ass) but they did not play that. I had like 20 guys chanting "Ban Thai" Ban Thai" but they didn't play it. Couldn't hear us over the screams of the young women- who also fought. Isn't that wierd? The chicks fought and the guys broke it up. To funny. The wife and I were arm and waist jumping up and down and mixing sweat with the kids & rockers of Surin- singing like crazy!
I, of course, was the only farang there and as I belted out lyrics with my wife- our fellow Thais "chomed and stared" at me smiling. Amazed that I could sing along (to most of the songs anyway). And possibly also that I was a bit older and rocken out. But there were some Dads there too, with their kids. I love this aspect of going to concerts in Thailand. I've gone to several P-Bang (Nakarin Kingsuk) concerts and dudes just start handing me whiskeys and catapulting me to the front of the stage. That didn't happen this time but it was great fun and Silly Fools sounded really good. Still, I wish they'd looked more enthusiastic about it all. They were very tight musically- very together, their sound was crisp and loud.
Okay, back to work and the gym! Gadsooks! I must have gained 2 more kilos from all that beer drinking in Vietnam. Royal Spa here I come! Miss you all and looking forward to meeting some new people this month too.
