I found a handy Colour picker on the internet great for grabbing colours from your desktop quickly. It stores the colours with reference  codes so they are easy to identify. I have been using it to get  loads of colours acuately while surfing the net before transfering them to photoshop for later use.  you can get it free here http://www.annystudio.com/software/colorpicker/ 

Very useful indeed. Same aim but different software is Huey - the only tool I use since 9 years without upgrading or changing software.
