Adjustment period!
Although it is my 3rd week at APMGroup, my sleeping and waking-up patterns have not yet been in smooth track. I wake up around 7 and reach my work place around 9 most mornings. And I have to linger there till 6. My translated books ‘Movie Companion: New Moon’ have been distributed throughout the country. I am so *******-go-luck girl to work on this piece; this work should be one of my best reference as the story of the book sells itself. If any ‘Twihards’ has a chance to go to two major bookstores ‘SE-Ed BookCenter’ and ‘Naiin Bookstore’ in Thailand, they will see my masterpiece, displayed in front of the stores. Some shops even place the copies in the ‘best-selling book’ made-of-glass booth.Other four books of mine are due to hit the shelves this month as well. The proudest one should be ‘Beautiful Creatures’ --- the second part. This part is the toughest as I had to deal with some unfamiliar Latin. But with some assistance from the editor and another freelance translator, we did it on time and it is scheduled to be published by 15 December. ‘Requiem in Vienna’ remains in the pipeline. I am so eager to get this done as I will use it to convince the selection committee to count me in in a university. Its deadline is in February 2010. As I will have more time off, I will spend the rest of my free time on studying German and doing my Master’s Degree. It’s time to get serious with my future, once again. The editor called to inform me that she had another love-wreaked vampire love story, waiting for me after ‘Requiem in Vienna’ is finished. The editor said she picked me because my knowledge of western and modern myth impressed her. Kevin came to have lunch with me at my work place yesterday afternoon. He was curious what the heck APMGroup was doing now? APMGroup provides Human Resource Management solutions for many leading organizations in Thailand. We aim at putting the right man in the right job. Unlike Kevin, he is trying to seek the right man with the right lubricant! Kevin has been whining and desiring to work for the UN. But please, the UN won’t count him in if he still looks like ****! Kevin went to Kuala Lumpur last week. He has been spending the money his father left for his family before he died. Well, like spending spree without realizing that when the money is all gone some days, he would sleep on the street! Last week, I was working on one of the APMGroup’s interesting solutions. It is called ‘Extended DISC’, the four quadrant behavioral model to examine four types of personnel’s behaviors. According to a preliminary assessment, I am a C-type person. “Conscientious: People with high "C" styles adhere to rules, regulations, and structure. They like to do quality work and do it right the first time. High "C" people are careful, cautious, exacting, neat, systematic, diplomatic, accurate, and tactful. Those with low "C" scores challenge the rules and want independence and are described as self-willed, stubborn, opinionated, unsystematic, arbitrary, and careless with details.” And that’s me! That’s why the company provided me a desk in a far-far-away land so that I can concentrate on my writing and translation. Well, I love this job. After 3 months in office, I will come to office every Monday only. I just need somewhere quiet to generate my work.
