admin Posted May 19, 2014 Report Share Posted May 19, 2014 The weakened economy plagued by political turmoil for over half year has taken toll on the private sector with more than 800 companies shutting down and newly-registered businesses dropping. According to caretaker Deputy Commerce Minister Nattawut Saikua, said mor than 800 companies were forced to shut down due to the political uncertainty and turmoil which has delayed government spending and wrecked business confidence. He also said the number of newly registered businesses in the month of April showed a decline of 19%. A total of 4,265 new businesses with a combined value of 17 billion baht registered with the ministry last month. But when compared to the figure in March, the number in April represented a 19% drop, he said.
