Hmm why don't you put all of your questions into one post?

Phi Phi is quiet so if that's what floats your boat go for it. You might be better off staying at Krabi or Phuket if you like a bit more of a lively place.

you can do day trips on boats from either of these places to Phi Phi.

Agree with Treborz, Phi Phi very quiet and more than 1 or 2 nights is enough

If your travelling alone and looking for some good night life then Krabi or even Phuket.

If u plan to do full moon party on new years night, book now or u got no chance.

Be warned new years eve is not quite what we are used to. Everything stops about 11.30 and the locals swap presents and midnight just comes and gos.

All bars usually open till 1 in thai but that night i cant quite remember what time they closed.

I plan xmas and new year agian in thai, but this time to the north chaing mai and chiang rai

Ok, i talk a lot of crap and probably no hep at all

Stay in Phuket is better then Krabi. More activities and conveniences.

If u wanna know about Phuket and Phi phi Island, I can answer most of ur questions. hehe.. I'd been worked in Phuket about two years. Was a general manager of a small hotel in Patong, Phuket.. I will stay in Phuket n koh phi phi about 20 days for business and private trip before new year eve.

For more information about accomodation n tips to live budget, i will be happy to tell u all i know..

Christmas eve on Bangla road is great, always. People let go off small balloon with candle inside on Patong beach. . It was one of my awesome experience..

Have u ever seen Santa flying on parasailing ? There u wait and see on Kata beach.

I went to Koh Phi Phi last month. There looks the same beautiful or even better. Walk up the view point if u stay over night on island. : ) Every ferry to island offer the same price, I tried all cruses n know which one is the best.

I'll be spending my first Xmas in Thailand too before heading off overseas somewhere for a holiday.

Been here for 5 years but always have been overseas during the Xmas period.

I'll be interested to follow this post for something to do.

I suggest you make your mind up in case you need to make a reservation, it get's very busy here that time of the year. Have a great time here.
