The five weeks holidy of me and my boyfriend officially started yesterday. After seeing us spending last weekend watching Smallvile one episode after another, I finally made us spent an afternoon outdoor.

Being quite a big fan of Smallvile series at the moment, we would like to see how Superman Returns is like. I have to say we are very disappointed. Superman in the movie is nothing, but a pretty face (and strong, of course as he is superman). The movie did not give you enough background on characters. I quite like Lex Luthors character. Besides having a good actor, the movie managed to waste it on some sort of comic character unlike the intelligent, influential man in my mind. Another character, Martha Kent, only appeared at the beginning and at the hospital. The only thing she contributed in the movie is to look worried. There is too little explanation on why Superman left. I did not get a feeling of any character which I considered very strange for someone like me. Compare to movies of the same type - Batman Begin, Spiderman, they are a lot better than this Superman movie. The only good thing we can find is the speical effects.

Overall we wasted 700 baht, 2 hours and I guess "The world doesn't need another superman movie".

Now my boyfriend is back on the couch watching Smallvile. I will need more convincing reason to get him out of it...sigh...or I'd better join him.

I'll still watch it, but I'll wait till I get to Thailand. I don't mind spending 150Baht for a bad movie. But in Japan, it's about 600B -- or about 1,600B for two with some snacks. So I guess I'll see Superman and Pirates at Emporium. Anyway, thanks for the review! Very well written!

It would not be this good without a conversation with my boyfriend after the movie.

If you want to watch it, maybe better try the 3D version. That way you can enjoy the special effect of the movie at the fullest and forget about the plot.

The VP seat at Paragon is not as good as emperor seat at Major for pretty much the same price and service.

I saw Superman Returns this afternoon at Imax. I have to say that I found it enjoyable and entertaining, though it won't win any awards. I had read some of the professional reviews beforehand and so I guess I wasn't expecting too much.
