its no coincidence that most of the crashes have occured since the army took over the maintenance from the airforce in the 80's. as an old ex-airforce member, there is no way i'd be confident to travel in them. in the army, you are a soldier first and an airman (maintenance) is your secondary duty. its more important to the army that you are away for months at a time doing promotion exams and running thru the jungle than keeping the aircraft airworthy.
