I don't know if any of you in the UK have been following this but Paul Potts won the competition to perform in the Royal Variety Show in front of the Queen (he also won £100,000).  He has had professional training but could not afford to keep getting it and has been working as a mobile phone salesman at Carphone Warehouse.  Here is his semi final performance, I understand youtube is still banned in Thailand so found an alternative.  I will put his final winning performance (Nessam Dorma) up tomorrow for those that are interested. 

he was really good, you have to bear in mind the other finalists included a 6 year old girl singing "somewhere over the rainbow" so if there was gonna be a sympathy vote it would have gone to her.
