Anyone ever volunteered at an orphanage?

I have about 3 weeks off for Christmas (I hope LOL) and it doesn't look like I will be visiting my bf after all since he'll probably still be relocating and looking for a new job.

And I've been thinking "What do I do with all those times off?"

Sleep all day and enjoy being Lady Leisure (done that a few too many times already)

Travel somewhere (haven't really been planning that so won't really have the money)

Do some good (yes, I have the time and the energy)

So I thought what type of charity work I can do within the time I have and I've come to the conclusion of visiting and doing volunteer work at an Orphanage somewhere.

Has anyone have the experience? I don't mind wether it's in Bangkok or upcountry. I have about 2 weeks to work and then I have to do my annual trip with the girls when their holidays start at the last week of mine.

Let me know if anyone has any idea.

Cheeeeeers!

Yes, contact the Mercy Center in Klong Toey, run by Father Joe Meier. They have many HIV positive orphans and always need some help. Phone might be listed under the Human Development Foundation.

Ask for Khun Tiew Bunnag.

A female friend of mine did this in Cambodia recently and said she got soo much out of the whole experience. Knowing that you are helping out those less fortunate than yourself is always worthwhile.

Lizardo, that sounds like a great idea. Also it's around Christmas and new year holidays season, the kids will love it :-)

And yes I was thinking about father Joe also just don't know the contact details. Thx all I will look it up.

I would love to volunteer...I don't have much free time, but I am open to your idea....It's wonderful!

You have a good heart.

What you want to do is much more important than taking a vacation.

Can I give you a hug?
